Clio or Focus?

Focus’s boot is a bit bigger - 316 litres compared to 300 litres
The OP is looking at a Focus of 05-11, not the most recent model.
The 05-11 MK2 focus has a 385 litre boot. (396 - 08 onwards)
So considerably larger than the Clio, and also considerably larger than the newer car.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)
Savings target June 18 - £22,281.99 / £25,0000 -
Thank you all for replying. We ended up going for a 2008 C-Max Diesel

Good choice
I know it offers a great drive and the amount of safety it provides is a bonus!
Guessing you went for the 1.5-litre diesel engine?0 -
I find the boot on our focus's (Focii ??) to be quite poor. We have both a 2015 Titanium and a 2015 ST and neither can fit 2 medium sized suitcases in without putting the back seats down.
The Titanium boot is a good 4 inches higher than the ST although both have full size spare, and neither rear seats fold flat but quite sloping.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0 -
A Clio wouldn't even get a look in from me, just going by the reputation of Renault."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0

It might be when the poster is in the "Dark" about some things. But you are spot on about CO2 not being an indicator of good fuel economy specifically.
Though it does "Matter" if you want to keep your VED costs low.0 -
Couldn't resist a correction DM.Focus every single time, Clio only comes with three doors while the Focus is usually five. Focus’s boot is a bit bigger - 316 litres compared to 300 litres and the Focus is in my opinion anyway much better looking and much better to drive.
Also more economical with 88g/km of CO2 when you specify the 1.5-litre diesel, while the Clio’s best option is 99g, but that’s still pretty good.
All in all, if they’re looking for space for kids and a good boot go for the Focus – if you really need lots of space you can also get the Focus estate, while the Clio only comes in hatchback form :undecided
The fact that a Clio comes in 5dr not just 3dr has been addressed.
But your internet research has failed to spot the glaring fact that they also made an estate in the last generation Clio which is the model that the OP is considering as they mentioned "2011".0 -

If you wanted something the size of a C-Max, why were you even considering a Clio? Two totally different segments. No free lunch, and no free laptop
