Clio or Focus?

Hi there, I hope someone can offer advice!
Our car was written off recently and we're currently in a hire car.
We're looking for a new car up to £3500. We have a good offer of £3300 for a 2011 Clio with around 55k miles on. For a similar amount we could get a 2007(ish) Focus with more like 70k miles on.
Which do you think is better? We need space for a child and a good boot.

Many thanks!

A Focus is a decent size car for a small family, a Clio on the other hand.....

Focus is bigger than a Clio by quite a bit, particularly in terms of boot space. I like our Clio but if it's boot space you need then you're much better off in the Focus.

Are they same car ? Description is 1.8 for £2795, the photos are for a 1.6 for £3695 ? The 1.6 badge is in photo 5, just checked the plate is for a 1.8 but the boot lid does look like a 1.6

Focus every single time, Clio only comes with three doors while the Focus is usually five. Focus’s boot is a bit bigger - 316 litres compared to 300 litres and the Focus is in my opinion anyway much better looking and much better to drive.

Also more economical with 88g/km of CO2 when you specify the 1.5-litre diesel, while the Clio’s best option is 99g, but that’s still pretty good.

All in all, if they’re looking for space for kids and a good boot go for the Focus – if you really need lots of space you can also get the Focus estate, while the Clio only comes in hatchback form :undecided

The Clio is 5 door :)
But yes, Focus is the way to go I think!!

I managed to zoom in on the one on Autotrader and it is a 1.8.
I thought it said 1.6 too!

Co2 is not a measure of economy.

Doesn't seem like a fair comparison - compare a Focus with a Megane, or compare a Clio with a Fiesta.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

Yes it is. Just in different units for no good reason.

The Clio mk3 is a pretty big car and probably not too dissimilar to a mk1 Focus. I know we're talking about a mk2 Focus here but im just trying to say the Clio is a good sized car, one of the biggest superminis.
I'd go for the 2011 Clio over a 2007 Focus every time. It's up to you OP!
