Merchant Category Code, i.e. the way in which retailers categorise spending, which can be used by card issuers like Santander to offer differential promotions. What's MCC?
Or it's a famous cricket club....

Another Update (maybe I should be opening a new thread for this):
As stated in a previous post, I opened a barclays account with the hope of using it for a while - build up some internal score then apply for a credit card.
Received my card, telephone and online banking details etc.
Now, in the post, I received a very odd and weird letter from Barclays, stating:
We regret to inform you that, following a review of your account(s) with us and after careful consideration, we are unable to continue to act as your bankers.
Therefore your account(s) with us will be closed on xx/xx/x in accordance with our commercial and other obligations under section 11, page 30 of the Retail Customer Agreement (Terms and Conditions), a copy of which can be obtained by visiting the following link: https://www.barclays.co.uk/rca. .....Blah Blah Blah
Now, if I say I am not bothered by this, I'd be lying. A bank, saying no to a customer's money. Either things must be so bad with my financial records at the moment or something else - I don't know.
Any ideas what this means guys??
All response appreciated.0 -

Sounds like you've got yourself a CIFAS marker:

Also, how could you be on the electoral roll for 8 years if you've been out of the UK for 2 years? If you've been lying on application forms you may have a CIFAS for application fraud.
First things first you should obtain copies of all 3 of your credit reports and then send a SAR to CIFAS.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly, and I can move and merge threads there. Any views are mine and not the official line of moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Thanks for this.
I say 8 years because, prior to my leaving the country, I was at this address (it was my address before Uni, my home address while at uni and my home address after uni - before I ravelled for 2 years).
And while I was away, I was still receiving correspondence everyone and then.
Now I'm back, I'm at the address. So I just added it all together.
Also, on my credit report from Experian, Equifax and CallCredit - it shows no CIFA related entry.
Although, when I tried to apply for the free credit report from Noodle (subsidiary of CallCredit), I get denied saying they couldn't verify my identity. Same with CashPlus pre paid card. Something is quite out of place with my identity - and the credit checking firms don't show it.0
