I remember when I was about your daughter's age my parents were on an economy drive for ages and we all did a family paper round on a Thursday and Fri - I probably had something like 50p from it as pocket money but their general attitude was we were helping out towards the household so I had to earn my money! Didn't last forever and I didn't suffer for it but I still got money for my mags. I think she would be happy to join in! Do it!0

hi there with regards to your dd, why dont you suggest she does a paper round to earn some cash for herself? this way you could teach her the value of money, and maybe go with her while she does it so ure spending quality time with her aswell! when my mum had her lbm this is what she did with my little sis and its worked a treat - my little sis has even started saving!!! just try to get some positive out of this xxxxLBM 29/07/ 07

Mjjj, you're not alone. Sometimes it feels never ending, but the reality is that it will come to an end! You're doing great as far as I can see, and you'll continue to do great so long as you remember that this website is chocka FULL of folk in similar situations who all give words of encouragement during our hard times.
Keep on keepin' on m'luv, soon enough the debt and the hard times will be behind you xDebt free since 2014 - now saving for a mortgage deposit :heart2:

> If only I wasn't messed up in the head and I could work more, we would be in a better situation. I feel like I am the one holding us all back.
You mustn't think like this - you sound more like the solution than the problem.
The most important thing is to get *everyone* in the family "on message" with the debt-free lifestyle.0 -
Hi Mjjj - can't really say anything tha hasn't already been said.... Def talk to ur OH, its a big burden to take on ur own..... my OH is still coming round to the DFW way of thinking, but he's getting there :grinheart I defintaley found gentle conversation easier for him to take than constant nagging!
As has also been said, get ur daughter involved - whether it is a paper round (maybe you could do one together? - or doing chores for some pocket money.... children are a lot more understanding than we give them credit for some times..... My DS is only 6 months, and he's already a DFW (don't tell Daddy tho!) I'm determined his first word will be 'budget'
Most importantly tho, keep posting, or at least, keep lurking, and draw support and inspiration from everyone here!

i think summer holidays make u feel more guilty as i cant afford to take mine anywhere but the park. as soon as we get paid my oh the money is gone on bills.so all week sit indoors or go to the park with nothing. maybe in a years time i will be debt free.......i half way there...... good luck with all you do x xi will be debt free, i will0

Just a quick message to everyone for their messages of support. I was in a very dark place yesterday and felt it was all hopeless.
Today I have had a better day, my phone bill from Virgin Media was £20 less than usuual (we got rid of everything except broadband....luckily my internet access is being paid for by the Open University access to learning fund for a year). I also got some school uniform bargains today (daughter is starting secondary school so having to get quite a few things), and listed a load of things on Ebay as its half price listing day today.
Payday tomorrow, but no spare money :-(....
On another brighter note.... a great old friend of mine is taking my daughter to a Star Wars exhibition on friday with her own son (at no cost to me at all.....I did offer, but she refused). So my daughter will have a fab day out and I can eat noodles for lunch and tea without feeling bad!!!
Our debtfree date is Dec 2049 if our payments stay the same (which I hope they won't).......so only 42 years to go (I would be 82 years old!!!).
I also have a counselling session tomorrow (courtesey of the good old NHS), so I can bleat at someone else. I hate depression.....its so depressing!
I am so glad I found somewhere where people actually KNOW what I am feeling and how much of a struggle it can be at times.
thankyou all :-))
