£4.50 Virgin Broadband

Is this deal any good for their 2Mb service?

I know I need a phone line from them too but I just moved in so dont have BT there either.

Cheers

Sounds like a really good offer. I'd get it.

How did you get to hear of this, could make the weekly email.

Looks to be their cable broadband so you'll need to postcode check to see if you're in a cabled area, if not then you can only get their off-cable (the old Virgin.net) service.

I phoned up about this offer today. It was a battle, but I did have some success.

My current package is 3 for £30 (TV size L, Broadband M, Phone M)

I wanted Freeview TV (attached to phone package), Phone Size M £11 and the £4.50 offer.

I was told initially that this offer was for brand new customers only. "Fine," I said, "where exactly does it say that?" I was told it was in the terms and conditions. "Where exactly in the terms and conditions?"

(Quote) "Err...I don't know, hold the line"

Phone music ensues, 10 minutes later.

"Hello, yes I can confirm that the offer is for new customers only and is in the terms and conditions"

"Ok thanks can you please direct me to the appropriate paragraph in the terms and conditions?"

    "I don't know"

"Then how can you confirm this?"

    "A colleague told me"

Basically, my argument then focused on the advert on the website. The offer clearly states that Virgin are offering broadband for £4.50 if you have a phome package. It does not say anywhere that existing customers are excluded.

The woman I spoke to finally ran out of patience and passed me through to another department (probably the bloke sitting to her right). We went through the whole thing again. However, the gentleman could not convince me or produce any evidence that the offer was only for new customers.

He offered me several packages, he claimed could save me money. Two of these were actually more than I was paying already. He then offered me broadband for £12. I asked him why he could do this but not honour what was advertised on the website.

Finally,he offered me a final, last chance, take it or leave it offer.

    TV Free
    Phone £11
    Broadband £6

Not the complete result, but a result all the same.
