Morrisons Match & More is changing

Now they change the rules so we get less in points. Everyone knows the only points worth having are those given by "Boots" I recommend buying the Daily Mail news paper and saving the points from the back. Over a period of a few months I save enough to get £20 pounds off at Morrisons. Money for nothing as It's the paper I buy anyway.
Even these have decreased : Boots don't give as many points as they did.
The Mail used to send £5 (Or was it £10?) M&S vouchers to subscribers, every month, besides giving vouchers at the time of subscription, that meant the papers cost very little.
Then they cut the value of weekend numbers ,making only every day subscribers slightly better off...and the number of points needed for vouchers went up, too.0 -
Just read what they intend to do after Nov. 2nd. 5 points for every £1 spent. (still 10 per litre of fuel).
The prospect of having to spend £1,000 for a £5 voucher (in future) is just madness! And, as I mentioned earlier the 'special points awards' aka 'more' points (or whatever they rename them as) offers are just deliberately overpriced in the first place, so you have to keep on spending there (5000 points= £5 voucher, but not before) to recover the price difference.
They started this scheme a year ago. It may have not been such a catastrophic success as they wished, but dropping it so soon will only make them worse off than where they started, by driving customers to competitors. Especially Lidl and Aldi. (IMO) Was something that they obviously (now) have concluded they were powerless to fight, but the reason for creating the scheme in the first instance! :A0 -
am I the only person who hardly gets any points under the current scheme???
I shop most weeks in Morrisons and spend around £40 yet usually only ever get around 200 points maximum a time so won't be much difference for me!0 -

Yes must apologise you and others are correct they do last a year. I was just noticing say 5/11 and not registering the16
I will however keep using as I get them as they appear in trouble and who knows what the situation might be in a year. They have shut stores and could shut more. If they did shut ours I would have to go elsewhere. I do all my shopping there and have had loads of vouchers.0 -

I'm actually hoping they fail, would quite like an ASDA instead and I'm sure most of their stores would get taken over by other supermarkets. I know ASDA have been desperate to open in our town for years but haven't been able to find a site suitable.0 -

Would not get too hopeful in Asda taking over another supermarkets property.
Some supermarkets put a covenant on the property not being a supermarket to stop competition to another of theirs nearby. The more I live, the more I learn.

For me this is the straw that broke the camel's back. I didn't like the fact I never got points on spends under £15. Last week I finally made it to a £5 voucher, which I spent this week.
The other problem with my Morrisons is they don't have anywhere near enough checkout staff so there are always long queues. But always enough staff to make sure the checkout supervisor has a couple of friends to chat to at her desk.... There's junk blocking the aisles, the prices are increasing, some of the fresh stuff isn't great quality and they have a habit of leaving mouldy veg on sale...
I think I should stick to Waitrose and enjoy the free coffee0 -
Speaking with my husband about this and I think we will end up using Morrisons less once the changes come in. I've been using Aldi quite a bit recently for fresh ingredients and the quality is just as good as Morrisons but a lot cheaper. I only really did a couple of online shops per month with Morrisons for bulky items (no car) like fizzy drinks, washing up liquids, laundry products and so forth plus we both did one or two smaller shops. Looking online Sainsburys seems to offer the same kind of offers but the Nectar points are better value for money so I will probably end up using them more often.
It's a shame, I like others accrued some great points over the last year. We got a £75 voucher in June which we used plus we currently have £20 ready to spend which we will probably save to use towards Xmas food/drink:money::rotfl::T0 -
They may been in infinite free fall (in the first place), they may have dissuaded us from shopping there since 'the change', but at least they acquired the IP of our personal details/addresses on their books (given in good faith)...
Presumably to sell on/ increase value/ net assets to any 'new' owner. This scheme being as good as cancelled just outside a year of operation. :A0
