Well, if the police officer who attended said there is no case to answer, and the CCTV proved they were lying, can you not have the security guard arrested for false imprisonment and assault?

Oh come on. If OP had done nothing wrong he might have grounds for suing for wrongful arrest - but he did leave Tesco's with their goods without paying for them. That was probably sufficient grounds to justify an arrest - the security guard had reasonable grounds to suspect that OP was committing an act of theft.

Innocent people get arrested all the time. As long as the people arresting you - normally the Police - have reasonable grounds to suspect you are committing an indictable offence, there is nothing you can do about it.

I didn't realise the security guard had also assaulted the OP (there has been a lot of posts so I must have missed that bit).

In which case I agree with you he should contact the police about it.

The "tap on the shoulder" might be considered an assault - not by any reasonable person though.

That would depend whether it put the OP in fear of his life.

    I suspect not. ;)

Who told me what? My post covered a number of points. Do you expect to explain all of them?

But surely you haven't stolen anything until you've left their property? If you are still on their land, you haven't taken anything.
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

I'm not convinced by this argument. If you've left a store without paying for something I don't think you can claim if caught in the car park that you've not left the property yet!
