Many councils don't allow paper bags in the paper recycling as its the glue.

Paper bags are only free in England

Apparently some councils don't accept envelopes for recycling for the same reason, but I've never personally come across this problem (either as a resident or a waste professional).

I put clean paper bags out for recycling and always have done.

supermarkets should change their bags to brown paper ones and they should deal with the cost...its like booking into a hotel and them charging you for a key....

Nope as you need the key to get into the room, you can't provide your own. Its more like them charging for a key ring if you don't have your own already.
If you have your own bag you can use it, or pay for a new one.

I have to say that my council, although fairly useless about most things, is really good with the recycling :rotfl: They're really not that fussy about what you can recycle. All types of paper and cardboard are accepted, plastic containers including from cleaning products, and even aerosols :T

Its also the 'window' as well that is an issue too.

A relative's council doesn't allow envelopes or egg boxes in her combined paper and cardboard bin. I suggested to put these into cereal and cat food pouches boxes.

If a council says it doesn't want something its because they cannot recycle it. Anything unwanted will need to be removed at some point.

My council will take paper or cardboard in any form including shredded paper.

Also tins, plastic trays and bottles, glass and aerosols cans.

All the above collected in ONE bag.

None of this one box for this and another for that.

This has been they way our council has always collected the recycling materials since the conception of the service going back 25 years plus.

I don't think any two councils operate the same policy for recycling. Even the colours of the bags, bins and boxes.
