Might have a use for the deluge of "charity" bags I get through the door next time I go cushion shopping!0

Went into Boots the other day for the £1 meal deal on O2 and got a free bag. Apparently they are giving away paper bags for food only now.
Had I bought anything else that wasn't food, I'd have to pay the 5p.0 -
I think it's about time for England to come into line with the rest of the world on plastic bag consumption. According to this post you can potentially get the 5p bag charge refunded if you can prove the bag is faulty. Seems funny to me that consumer rights legislation would result in possibly undermining the bag charge?2013 Wins :j:
Total Recall Bluray, Robot & Frank tickets, Taken 2 Bluray, Borgen DVD, Aliens: Colonial Marines game, £1475 cash, Kellogg's Cereal, NY trip to see Beyonce, a mug, Liberty x Dockers event tickets, Iggy Azalea tickets, bottle of champagne, theatre tickets to The Pride, VEVO Halloween party tickets...0 -
Bought some shopping at the weekend at Morrisons, as I didn't have any bags with me I had to get a bag there. I wanted a re-usable bag (as I would re-use it at Aldi anyway) but they had ran out!
Anyway all my shopping fitted into 1 x 5p bag. Got home and found out I'd been charged for 2 x 5p bags. Not happy.0 -

oh dear, 5p extra, but bonus is when you next go for a big shop, you will have two bags to take with you, if you remember to take them.0 -

It's not about the 5p well sort of... I was willing to buy a 10p re-usable bag but they had none. Like I said, I would have re-used it time and time again when I do my "big shop" at Aldi and put it with my other re-usable bags that I've had for years.
What I'm not happy about is being charged 10p for 1 crappy 5p bag that wouldn't last a walk home on a calm summer afternoon.
No wonder they brought this law in, obviously the checkout operator thought my shopping would not fit in 1 bag and thought I needed 2. Half the bags ever given out were probably needless.
And it has nothing to do with remembering to take bags, I was passing and wanted some stuff. We don't all have a set routine that we strictly stick to like "big shop every thursday morning at 10am". *rollseyes"0 -
I'm all lined up for supermarket bags and for shopping in town. No problem but it never crossed my mind about a bag charge at a large home wear store. I bought 8 cushions! Did I want a bag. Well yes I needed to get them to the car so it was 5p for a bin bag style bag. Not expensive or anything but it did catch me out.
Surprised they don't use slightly thicker bags which are not covered by the 5p charge and if they want to give them free they can or just charge cost price and that would not need to be more than 2p.
It would save them the need to keep any records of bags provided etc and most customers would probably appreciate it.0 -
How hard can it be to stick a bag or two in a handbag or coat pocket?
For many under 50, it is hard.
I have ordered pack of foldable bags with pouch attached so I can slip one bag per coat and have 2 in my pocket. In the summer, I use a bigger handbag, so put three bags in there. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
If I bought a bag a day for the whole year it'd cost me £18.25.
< £20 over the course of a year.
Love how us Brits complain over this and not more pressing issues in relation to how the government steals from the pay packets!0 -
