Thank you I had seen that in your post and forgot to say I would do that as well
For the cleaner I was just going to my local motor factors as for the oil I was going to use the 2 stroke oil I use in my chainsaw
He did say it was the 2-stroke he was going to use - but me just saying 'chain-saw oil' in my repy could be seen as ambiguous. Oops.
Anyhow - I'm sure he's not going to use chain-lube oil.0 -
Umm, "chainsaw oil" is the stuff you lubricate the chain with, and is very different to two-smoke oil, which is what's wanted here.
You are quiet right there is a difference between the two I had meant the 2 stroke oil you add to the petrol and not the lubricating oil for the chain.0 -
Buy a Ford next time. They have the gizmo that means you can't accidentally put petrol into a diesel tank.

Re diesel in a petrol car - how do people manage to do this? I thought diesel pumps were all too large to fit in a petrol car's hole?0 -
Maybe I'm missing something but if the tank was nearly full (55 out of 60 litres as we hear later); why was she topping it up? Or did she put 5 litres unleaded into a nearly empty tank and then top up with 55 of diesel after the attendant told her this was OK?OH made a mistake and put about 5 litres unleaded in her diesel the garage attentant said it should be ok if as the tank was nearly full - it was - it is running ok so is this ok?I need to think of something new here...0 -

I assumed the latter of the two scenarios.
Oh dear - maybe it was a wrong assumption.

What type of 'gizmo' is that - is it just an insert in the filler tube?0 -

No she was just topping up a tank with about 55 litre diesel in it and realized she was putting the unleaded in at 5 litres - she knows it was that as that is what she paid for and at that time the attendant said should be ok.0 -

Topping up as just passing service station0 -
Incidentally, continually "topping up" some brands of diesel is a Bad Idea as they have a system that injects "Magic Fluid" (believed to be wee) into the fuel, every time you close the filler cap. This will run the bag of Magic Fluid empty too soon, and costs a fortune to get topped up, and the system reset. So it is best to go from full to nearly empty before refilling right up.
Hopefully, yours doesn't have this, I believe Citroen & Peugeot do though.
What is the reason to have this 'Magic Fluid'?0 -
