  • Been a NSD well I bought petrol but that was essential for my second job so I don't count it, Saturday me and DD went to the market there is a stall similar to approved foods and we got all our work/school snacks plus a load of latte packets for £7.40, we came home with 5 bags of stuff, I also bought some big bags of popcorn as we have been watching the Once upon time series on Netflix so I bought we could have mini movie nights on Friday nights.

DD has been great lately she used to eat through all the snacks and then pack lunches were a nightmare as we had nothing to put in them but she's seen that I have been making a real effort to get myself back on track and she has sort of been grabbing fruit or making toast for herself. She's 13 and she knows I have bi polar and she also knows about my gambling and smoking as she is the one person I have always been able to be honest with. We have a fantastic relationship and are more like friends than mum and daughter. It makes me a little sad as I didn't have a great relationship with my mum growing up as from the age of 13 my bi polar started to get really bad I know looking back it was always there but from that age it made me tired all the time and angry and depressed. I could never explain it to my mum and she just thought I was lazy, she even throws it in my face now I know that sounds bad but she always brings up that I was always up late for school and untidy and lazy I spend a lot of time reminding her I'm not like that any more since I got put on the right medication. She did it again today and yet again I was explaining myself I don't know why I bother any more. Think I needed to just get that out and now move on from it.

    Enough rambling for now

  • I signed my contract at work yesterday which is good and bad, good as I am no longer though an agency but bad as I have gone from weekly to monthly pay, it's put my debt free debt date back a bit as I can't pay as I have been so I will have to pay a month;y chunk out on pay day. I get paid on the 20th of each month so I am intending to pay my mum £1000 a month at the moment.

My debt free date is now April fools day :) I just need to budget the rest of my money I have coming in while I wait for my first monthly pay to hit my bank. It has been such a long time since I got a monthly wage so I am going to have o learn to adjust.

Just read your diary and you are doing so well. Almost 25% paid off your debt in such a relatively short time!! Well done.

Adjusting to monthly pay is difficult when you have been paid weekly up to now. My suggestion would be you budget for everything and maybe look into that emergency fund sooner rather than later as when you are paid weekly it does not seem that bad to wait a few days until payday but waiting a few weeks is much more difficult. Maybe allocate all your second job wages to paying off debt and a proportion of your monthly salary? Don't forget you also need to live so a treat every month or every couple of weeks is great for keeping you on track ie lunch out with your DD or mum or a movie night with popcorn or chocolate. That will help to keep you motivated. Also just think how much you will be able to save towards your house once the debt is gone.

I have spoken to my mum and she told me to keep the first months payment as a buffer I won't get paid off as soon but I will have an emergency fund if I need it.

I am adjusting my goals to start buying my house by the end of 2016 as it is a bit more realistic now I am monthly paid.
