Don't get worked up about it. Remember those advisors are only 'human' and no different to you. They can't bully you, they need to treat you with respect at all times.0 -
I really hope it goes ok, as am so worried0

I remember when I was on the work programme, It was awful, constantly told by the advisor that if I didn't get a job the "government" would make me work 35 hours a week for £72. Netherless I got a job and a year on found myself unemployed again. Upon signing on again I was told by JCP that I had completed the 2 year work programme, so I wouldn't have to do it again.0

I found the work programme good & bad, as I was able to get on courses & gain some qualifications, but they made you go for silly jobs that were not possible to do, personally for me, & my last year on the WP I got no help as I moved so I couldn't get the help. I'm hoping I can now get a job within the next six months with the help of the job centre now, it sounds like they are actually give me a bit of hep with mock interviews & help with completing applications, this is the help I need to get back into work.0

I had no help, they weren't interested unless you were a builder and they could throw a CSCS card at you.. I witnessed them helping people with money for bus/trains to get to interviews, but being I had a car I had no support. It also cost me more to drive and park there, but they wouldn't help me with that either lol I got told if I took the bus I would get help, all very well but I live in a rural area with no buses.
In regards to putting me forward for a job, 1 job in 2 years they put me forward for, which was an admin job, perfect for me... when I got there I had the woman trying to make out I was perfect for giving support/care for troubled young adults on drugs etc. Being I was having a hard enough time battling my own "problems" I couldn't believe someone who knew nothing about me was pushing me to go work with vunerable people, and feel the job I went for didn't even exist, I was told i'd be contacted when they had "decided"... no one ever contacted me, I even told Maximus that they were a joke, since they had a direct line to them and they didn't even tell maximus anything about my interview.
I got my job myself, then had Maximus constantly ring me at work and on my mobile (which i wasnt allowed to answer) so they actually jeopardised my job in a way. Obviously they wanted their "funds" from the government, but seeing as I got no help whatsoever... I didn't think they deserved them.
Oh I will add, to this day, even when I had a job... they would continually send me emails threatening to stop my benefits if I didn't tell them of any changes, they still send them now and I'm not even on the work programme. My JCP advisor laughed when I showed her the bi-weekly emails.0 -

In view of your circumstances your best route seems to be getting a 16 hr job during school times - easier said than done I know.
If you are having no luck on the employed job route have you considered doing some cleaning work?
You could put an ad in shop windows etc and see if you get any takers. Or ask around friends/neighbours. You would have to register as self employed and keep proper records but this isn't difficult. Just invoice your clients and keep copies. Lots of information on the internet about this. You can still claim working tax credits if you are self employed.
When you have been unemployed for so long you need to try and think 'outside the box'.
Another possible solution. Is your dad more employable? You could reverse roles and you look after mum and claim Carer's Allowance. You can then claim Income Support and your money would remain the same but with none of the aggravation.
Maybe not the best solution but it may give you a breathing space if things don't improve.0 -

Hahahaha
You're kidding right? All the job centres are filled with mean old hags.
I explained to this one lady that I hated coming to the job centre and felt like I was being treated like !!!!. She said "Oh thanks", took this comment personally and threw a hissy fit at me.
Go to any job centre. It's never young, positive, enthusiastic people helping you look for a job. It's old women with quotas to kick you off the system. They don't give a damn about you.0 -
yes I agree with you spira9, there can be some very horrid advisors there, if you get a good advisor that does help then your lucky.0
