Dawn - I actually just said 'oh yum' outloud to the thought of smoked trout. How utterly delicious. How does he do it? Does he have a smoker or is it more informal/bbq etc?

He does have a smoker, but it is a little one bought cheaply from a fishing shop, not a big expensive thing. It takes about half an hour from start to finish, so not a huge mission :)
  • Evening all
Late check in for me (rather unsurprisingly). Thanks all of you for your kind words at the moment, and thanks so much for the link Ally - I really appreciate it. Bob - I certainly don't feel like a hero. I feel like curling up and crying to be honest, but I will plod on. He didn't go to work today - I have no idea when he got up but he was up when I got home from work at half past five and had done absolutely nothing other than switch the telly on.
So I've been busy busy, and very productive. Got my list done - bank is looking very scary (2 days till payday) so I'm barely hanging on there.

    [/STRIKE]:o [STRIKE]mark a set of books[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]:o 15 mins housework and declutter[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]:o try very hard not to get stressed (this is easier said than done[/STRIKE])
  • Hi all

Took DS for a hospital appointment today. Outpatients is now in the old maternity ward where DS spent the first few days of his life almost 17 years ago. Funny how many memories it brought back.

Went into town but managed to spend very little. Made a chicken hotpot with the last of the meat that we have in the house. Dont want to shop until later in the week but I will probably have to buy some mince tomorrow, although we have plenty of veg and potatoes.

I have a very small second job that I do from home. I should have been paid £75 mid August and I am still waiting. I didnt want to do it but I have had to say to them that I won't do any more work unless they pay me. Never had this problem before and I am not sure what's going on.

Right, bed time soon I think.
  • Hey everyone!

It's so weird to go from being the first person awake, 9 hours ahead of the UK - to being the last person to check in now that I'm 9 hours behind!!

It's not easy to get a lot of stuff done whilst I'm here. Money saving is actually VERY easy, as I'm not paying for anything except the usual credit card payments & Critical Illness Insurance back home.

The big focus for me is MAKING money, so it was really nice to get my first request on FiveSquid yesterday, which I got done within two hours, which felt good. I've been updating survey accounts that I CAN access here in the US and bookmarking websites that don't allow proxies or access from countries other than the United Kingdom.

Hope you're all doing well. =D
