hen we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!

So be proud of those small steps, they really important! :money:

Morning guys :wave: I've been up since 5 (as needed to submit report for ms assignment yesterday) so thought I'd start us off :D

Whoop whoop today I go off to Ibiza :j Am picking up bff & dropping dgd off with oh at 4 :T so darn excited! :p

Bought a pair of tan knee high winter boots off of fleabay yesterday using the £30 voucher ebay gave me. So a pair of leather winter boots cost me £15.99 :T

Things to do today before jetting off:
*[STRIKE] check banking[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]submitted ms assignment[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]update GC over the last few days[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]Iron a few bits of clothing[/STRIKE]
* put everything in the suitcase
* take dgd to the park this morning
* Nip into town and return an item and collect euros
* all meals from stores
* [STRIKE]Freeze spag bol made yesterday in 2 containers[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]tidied kitchen, washed up, cleared dishwasher, wiped sides down[/STRIKE]
* make dinner for oh & dgd
* make packed lunch for bff & I for plane
*[STRIKE] email bff and ask her to print off stuff for parking[/STRIKE]
* water plants in greenhouse and pick any ripe tomatoes
* hula hoop

Other than that just try to contain my excitement! Have a great week guys x

  • Ohhh enjoy the holiday Determined! :-) I hope it's nice and sunny for you!

    I've had a pretty dull, but very money saving weekend. I spent £1 on some chocolate and that has been it. I did loads of cooking and baking yesterday to use up some supplies. I've frozen everything so should keep me going for a while!

    My to do list for today is:

    - finish this paid experiment. At last!!!! (I go collect my money on wenesday)

    - take lunch to work and take dinner out of freezer to defrost

    - do some surveys and enter some competitions

    - check my budget ahead of pay day on wenesday.

    - prepare some things for sending that I've sold on eBay.

    - Stick to one short shower. I have had 3 baths over the weekend which can't be good for the fuel bill :/ I just love my bubble baths though....

  • Have a fantastic time DNMS - I am a little jealous of you as I prepare for another week of early mornings and work. DH is definitely ill again so I'm trying not to stress too much about that, and let him sort himself out. I'm up, kids are up and that will be my major achievement of today...
    But here's my list
    :o check banking - 2 days until payday!
    :o Aim for NSD
    :o all food from stores
    :o go to my friend's exercise class after work
    :o full teaching day
    :o mark a set of books
    :o 15 mins housework and declutter
    :o try very hard not to get stressed (this is easier said than done)

    Morning all :)
    Enjoy your holiday DNMS :)
    Take care CCL :(
    BSCPL - your £40 sounds well earned!

    List for today:
    Find homes for 2 boxes of shop stock plus some bigger items :eek: (really *just* a matter of dragging it up 2 flights of stairs and crawling in the loft / eaves cupboard with it) Done

    Pack and bring back rest of stock from 'old' unit, using the boxes I will (hopefully) have emptied, to avoid buying more storage Done, it took ages, I DID have to buy 2 more storage boxes and loads more bubble wrap, and now I have more boxes etc to drag up to the loft. Still. at least it is finished now :T

    Take large bag of old but still serviceable coats to CS (too big for me, and replaced with 1 new coat bought for a bargain price yesterday :T) Done

    Take an item to the post office for postal survey Done

    Any online surveys that are available Done

    FPL - SOMEBODY must win it, right? Done, not me :rotfl:

    Hoover middle floor and wash bathroom floor (hoping OH will do this!) OH did it :T

    Dusting on middle floor, and clean bath, basin and loo (OH definitely won't do this) Not done this yet :o

    Make potato, spinach and chickpea curry for supper, to use up MORE leftovers (leaves from chard - I cooked the stems the other day. I hope the will work as spinach (they look similar but slightly tougher). I hadn't grown chard before this year - it is really pretty, but underwhelming to eat) Done

    OH to smoke some of the trout he brought back from his last fishing trip, for lunches for a couple of days Done

    Try and rejig freezers to make room for more tomato sauce :eek: Not done this

    Sort next batch of tomatoes (coming to the end now, a relief in a way, but we are really lucky to have so much of this almost free, luxury quality food) Or this

    Made the most of the lovely sunshine by spending time in the garden painting an item of furniture for sale. Still need to wax it tomorrow. OH made me feel like a murderer of tatty bits of old furniture as he thinks that wood should not be painted, and even worse in this case because it is actually an antique, though very scratched and scruffy :rotfl: However, somebody will buy it now :D

    Seems a lot :eek: but I am sure I have forgotten lots of things!

    Hope everyone has as good a day as possible :)

    Go to uni
    Complete ms assignment
    All meals from stores
    HH tidying the kitchen
    Get rid of 50 emails
    Do a budget for October

    Attend online event for uni tonight

    I think that is everything that I need to get completed today, Hope everyone has a good Monday x
