Are HSBC Stupid?

Options
I sent my offer acceptance letter back to HSBC on 9th September and have just had a letter to say they have been unable to pay the funds as my signature doesn't match the one they have on file for me! Have got married since closing the account and I have sent them my marriage certificate which they have accepted and updated their records accordingly, but no wonder it doesn't match what they have on file because it's a different signature because I have changed my name!! They are so frustrating, they now want me to send my driving licence to confirm my identity which I am quite reluctant to send to them!

I'm going to call them tomorrow and let them know how stupid I think they are!

Is there any value to calling someone stupid, other than your own smugness? Send the information as requested and get over yourself.
  • helpful! My main point was what is the point in accepting my name change and then not accepting a signature of that name. I think the smugness is all yours for that reply!

If they have no record of your signature, anyone could send a signed copy saying 'but that's my name'
Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi
  • But I've already sent proof of who I am I've gone though all this with them it took weeks before they would start investigating my complaint. All verified buy a qualified accountant and accepted by them so I'm frustrated at the fact that after doing all that and sending me my offer letter that they would then reject it due to my signature being different, of course it is and surely if they needed this type of confirmation they should have requested it while verifying my change of name.

Does your marriage certificate match your current signature.....

    3 options :

    1) stop talking about it, go to your local branch, and undertake what they have requested.

    2) Carry on complaining and try to fight the internal procedures of a multi national corporation

    3) Leave HSBC

    3) Leave HSBC

    1) I took my wedding certificate to a branch but as I'm not a current customer they didn't have clue what to do with it so I'm not certain this approach will work

    2) I said I was reluctant not that I wouldn't I don't like sending official documents in the post because that leaves me open to fraud if they go missing

    3) as previously meantioned I'm not with HSBC

Jeez what's with everyone today here I was thinking this was a freindly place to share experiences and ask for advice, no wonder people are affraid to post in places like this when someone isn't allowed to express frustration!

Ah. No. That's mumsnet you're thinking of.

It tends to be more clinical, logical advice round here.
