Are HSBC Stupid?

I agree with you Dollymix, Hsbc appear to b0e awkward about paying out ppi refunds. I had to wait 43 days to be paid out, after they said my signature wasnt the same as it was 15 years ago. I had a stroke in between, I even took Id to my local branch, but is still turned out to be a nightmare. Thumbs down for Hsbc from me.0

Trouble is, if they paid out to someone fraudulently impersonating you, you'd be posting here, telling us how stupid they were for not checking first.
They have every right to ensure they send the money to the correct person.0 -

Does your marriage certificate match your current signature.....
I didn't think your own signature appeared on your marriage certificate.0 -
Why do other banks like bank of scotland not need Id, neither do Santander, to pay put ppi, from what I gather its only Hsbc.0

Not on the certificate no, on the certified copy I signed and was countersigned by an accountant to verify the document that they accepted as my change of name0 -

Yes if I hadn't already sent them documents to confirm my change of surname, all my other detail remain the same, I'm at the same address and I passed all their security questions. Let's face it if some one had all this info I'm sure it wouldn't b a stretch for them to forge my signature0 -

Exactly this, I had 2 refunds from Santander, all they required was a copy of my wedding certificate as all my other details remain the same, I've also had a cheque from Canada square and although they wouldn't accept the certified copy of my wedding certificate they accepted my original as enough proof0
