    Morning everyone :)
Thank you for starting Ziggy good news about the garage :D

Kayannie - aww bless ya :( I feel your pain I suffer from migranes too they suck!! Hope you're feeling better soon :)

So gonna be a busy one for me today as we're getting our house keys tomorrow (so excited!! :D) I've got to do LOADS more packing, I have too much stuff!! Mum is coming over when I finish work to help me pack then got some people viewing current house. Hoping one of them takes it so we don't have to pay rent for October.

So heres what I've done/going to do today:
    - Water at work
    - No make up (a little to cover up MASSIVE spot)

    - Breakfast and dinner from stores (gonna get a sandwich after work for lunch, not got much in at home!)
    - Check FPL
    - Pack more stuff for move

    - Find cheapest broadband prices for new house (hubby was annoyed we couldn't get fibre which meant we couldn't get YouView so cancelled the BT package!! Looks like we're gonna get a Freeview recording box and we have Nextflix anyway so will save us money in the long run)
    - Make the house as tidy as possible for people coming to view

Think thats about it for today, gonna be a long one!!

    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning all,

Thanks for starting us off ziggy

I'm back (again!). Been awol as have been away for work and on holiday. On the slippery slope to (the c-word) now so need to knuckle down and be thrifty!

    • Pay off holiday cc spends with holiday savings (using a Halifax clarity card as recommended by Martin) - done
    • Charge phone in work - done
    • B/L/D from stores (remembered to get the chicken out the freezer!)
    • Possibly vax rugs in our bedroom/OH's music room - everything smelling a bit dusty.
    • Checked online banking and reconciled spreadsheet. Looking fairly good. - done
    • Sit down with OH to do his budget and pay his cc's
    • See if OH can cancel last cc
    • Left OH a flylady list hehehe - done (but will the list be done!?)
    • Heating well off still but need to start with little house measures to keep the summer heat in, like covering keyholes and closing curtains.
    • No booze (still working on this :/ )
    • Go for a run at lunchtime - done - am saintly
That'll do for today I think. It's so hard to keep on top of things and work as well - I don't know how you all do it!

    Have a good one

    Morning all,
Dad texted to say he's feeling a bit more comfortable, so that's reduced the stress levels a bit. Loads to do this week, so really need to make it count. Today's money-saving contributions as follows:
*Last of this week's laundry dried overnight on heated airer so as to use the cheap tariff.
*Caught up on surveys. Only need another 2000 or so points for my next Toluna cash-in.
*PAD into car fund - £1-25. You'll like this one......£1-20 of this was found down the side of Mum's sofa while we were turning the house upside down hunting for her silver watch. She told me to put it in my purse because she was only bothered about finding her watch (which eventually turned up in about the only place we hadn't thought to look, grrr.....) & the remaining 5p was found in a car park machine (Bob - you'll be proud of me for that one, lol!)
*Paid another 50p piecce into my sealed pot.
*Pick more ripe tomatoes, skin & blitz for freezer.
*Pull first leeks & do another pick of runner beans.
*Rubber chicken creation tonight will be chicken & leek pie with mashed potato top.
*Ordered birthday cards for all Oct - Feb birthdays. Not the cheapest cards around, but lovely selection, good quality & prices discounted for bulk purchase. Have bought a couple of more expensive ones recently, simply because my usual organised stocks of cards ran out & placing an order kept falling off the list.
*Make a list of jobs to do in town tomorrow when I shall have the car, so as to pay only 1 parking fee.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Started blitzing weeds in front paving with kettles of boiling water. mr f said weed wand gas cannister is empty. I don't reckon it is. I just don't think he trusts me with it. Hmmmm. It wasn't me that burnt a hole through the front door with it :-/
*Knit more of the jumper I'm doing for a Christmas present. If I crack on, I can finish the boring one-colour bit & start the fair isle patterns.
Hope everyone has a good day today. Must crack on.

  • Hi all,

It's a lovely sunny day in Yorkshire so I'm feeling in a good mood :-)

    Today my plans are:

    - fill out some surveys
    - enter some competitions
    - carry on with my paid experiment. I have to wear an activity monitor and take saliva samples every 3 hours for the next week. But I get £40 for my time so will be worth it!
    - check adds I have on gumtree and repost them as I've not had any interest :(
    - I brought left overs from last nights dinner for lunch today, so no spending on snacks/lunch at work
    - Dinner tonight will be from the freezer and I have printed off (at work) a Jamie Oliver recipe for Mac N Cheese I can make me and the OH for lunch tomorrow as I have all the things in the freezer.

Oh I just wanted to add I am feeling very impressed with myself as I have finally discovered the joys of shopping at Aldi!! I bought what would have cost me about £40-50 worth of face creams, hair spray and toiletries for about £10. Oh and their pesto is amazing.... just saying ;-)

Look into clicksnap ( I am sure that I downloaded this but never actually used it)
Look into checkoutsmart (I have not used this for a while)
    Swagbucks *DONE*
Look for part time work *DONE*
    Check onepoll *DONE*
Do daily on JPJ whilst avoiding the temptation to spend *DONE*
Look into setting up bounts, I tried to set the account up a few months back but couldn’t understand it.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All

Late check in from me, I also only finished yesterdays thread today, which is highly unusual. Missed reading everyones news this morning.

CCL - Thats funny, I got my CB at least a week ago. I thought it was standard across the country? Must be wrong. I dont get anything else like that so I dont know much. Sorry to hear the head is still nosing about...

Jono - Do come & join us on the PAD a day thread, it would be great to have those totals for the counts. And you Foxgloves & indeed anyone doing PAD.

    Determined -
Leafletting can be quite full on, but I guess depends what you are doing. I have done quite a lot for my business over the time, & it takes a really long time to get anywhere because of the number of houses, and the walking too and from gates to doors etc, but if its something you can do slowly over time with DGd in tow, then why not consider it.

Pippi - What is the work one hour womble thing? Im curious about anything to do with wombling :)

Ziggy - Horray to your husband agreeing to rent the garage out, thats great news.

Dawn - Glad you had a good night, & good luck with your stock move.

Tyrone - Thats commitment right there to DFW life, high five!

Twiggy - Well done on keeping up with your training. Great stuff.

Kayannie - Sorry to hear about your migraine. Im yet to expeirience one, but they sound so awful. Well done on your awesome bargains though. And the foraging yesterday. I dont get how people can throw away food either. Our neighbours have an apple tree that they never bother to pick, they usually offer if we want to.

Chocolatelover - Good luck with your packing lady!

Carrie - Great to see you back, I wondered what the C word was, until I thought about it a few times. I actually cannot believe we are in that zone again, it feels so wrong.

Foxgloves - Glad you are back, I missed your posts. And glad your Dad is ok, & doing a bit better now as well. Do your parents have other children as well to help? Well done on your PADs & wombling down the sofa :)

BSCLP - That sounds an interesting way of making cash. How did you get involved in that sort of thing? (the saliva test?)

MinnieMousesMummy - Glad to hear OH is back to work.

Well my small things for today.

    1) £9 PAD to the business CC
    2) Scanned in around 6 reciepts to claim the 1p on Quidco
    3) I bought 2 pork chops for £1.64, they are big, and have a lot of meat on them. I've cut the meat off, & seasoned it, fried it, plus thrown the bones back into the pot too. Am making veg stock as we speak, & then will assemble a pork stew, flavoured with garlic, honey, & herbs, along with pearl barley etc. Very cheap evening meal & will do OH for lunch too.
    4) Cycled all journies (more on this below)
    5) Checked both sets of banking. Working the weekend has really helped my cash flow, I feel a bit less back against the wall now.
    6) Have 2 party bookings that I am waiting on the money for totalling £200 for space only hire.
    7) Took some YS thins out of the freezer for tommorows breakfast, we are out of bread and I cant be fussed to go to Mr T tonight so they will do.
    8) Used up small change in the supermarket this morning.
    9) Son really wanted a Onsie with feet & a hood. I have been the highest bidder on a new with tags one on Ebay for just £6, so £8 including postage. It is a shark, it looks fab. The cheapest ones in Mr S were over £10 & didnt have the features he wanted. So bargain.
    10) Will be having an early night, after running a bath for me, OH & son to share the water on. In succession :)

So the bad things about today. Well. Last night was very disturbed. I woke up around 5 times. Am in that final stages bit where I cant lie very comfortably, my stomach feels very painful at times pulling me from one direction to antother & Im peeing like a race horse (TMI apols) I woke at one point for the loo, came back to bed and lay there shivvering uncontrollably for a good 10 minutes before I could get warm. I really dont know what thats all about.

Anyway, it was raining torrentially when we left the house this morning, so we all put on water proofs for the cycle, wellies, the lot. I got to work ok, got changed, no biggie.
When I came to pick my son up tonight, his teacher, who I barely know really, was quite judgemental about how wet he had been when he got in this morning (which I didnt know as his father does mornings) I felt so unhappy that she thought I'd deliberately send my child to school in wet clothing (he had on the worst ever lost property items when I collected him) & was quite condesending about how if we are 'going to choose to cycle' in weather like this, we should get him better wet weather clothes.
I actually broke down on the way home, & had my 6 year old trying to comfort me, he told me to take a deep breath, & I am the best mum in the world, but honestly? Im setting off again just typing this.
I dont understand why a teacher would assume that we have a car, or could make the journey some other way?
Anyway, all a bit much after such a bad night & being a bit emotional. You'd think schools would be glad that pupils are not clogging up the road, & using their initiative to arrive on a bike!

So, guess what? Im off for that hot bath & try & grow a thicker skin, which at the age of 36 if it hasnt happened by now, is quite unlikely!

    Night guys

  • Ah Bob - sorry that's made you feel a bit rubbish. Teacher mode is awful - I do it sometimes without thinking and it makes me sound all judgemental and horrible. I wouldn't have thought she was judging you... ask her what she suggests for getting him there in the torrential rain without a car...

My sore throat has turned into full on manflu over the day - I'm really tired, and probably straight away for another early night. Kept busy all day, and have managed a nsd which is fantastic.

[STRIKE] check banking and pay DS birthday party balance (it's child benefit day)[/STRIKE]

how shockingly rude and insensitive Bob! Gosh I'm lost for words. Hope you are ok. You're doing the right thing with your son and the best you can. I really hope the teacher reflects on this tonight and realises how insensitive she has been x
