Can I lie about my income?

in Credit cards
I'm currently unemployed, and the credit card company (egg money) I applied for wont accept me because my income is too low. I really need a credit card because I need it to invest in my online business I'm setting up. Although I'm unemployed I do have enough savings in my account to start the investment. I was considering to lie about my income, but would that be a problem?

Can i lie? Well course you can
Will you get caught? Maybe, maybe not
If you are though you can say goodbye to potentially getting any other credit, cards, loans, mortgaeges, insurance, some jobs......
You say you have enough savings to set up your Business then say you need the money to invest in your Business
Do yourself a favour and dont do it0 -
You wouldn't just be lying about your income though. You'd also have to lie about your employment status, and your employers name, address and telephone number, and even how long you've worked there.
You could end up with a CIFAS marker against your name, and that's serious.
Remember, deception to gain a pecuniary advantage is FRAUD.
Do yourself a favour...use your savings.0 -

I agree with this. Also - how do you know it was your income which made your application fail; I didn't think CC companies usually told you the actual reason, so it may not be that....
Proud to be dealing with my debt!

But I don't understand why you need a credit card to spend money you already have?

Isn't your debit card a Visa card? All the ones I have ever had have been.0

Visa cards don't have to be credit cards. A lot of debit cards these days are Visa. Check your own debit card and if it isn't one, open a current account that offers them. Certainly my accounts with Nationwide and Lloyds gave me a Visa debit card. Then you can put your savings there and spend them without resulting to fraud. Problem solved
If I had a pound for every time I didn't play the lottery...0
