Five OS Pleasures in your day today
Comments
-
here's mine:
1) Spending a thoroughly lazy day with DH2B
2) Making a cracking chilli con carne, with enough to feed us again for another meal at some point in the future
3) Finding a new recipe
4) Eating the last baked bhaji I made yesterday and finding they're just as good
5) Sewing with natural light at 6:30am this morning. I have no idea why I couldn't sleep, but at least I got some more cross-stitch done

Another lovely day today:
1. After a horribly rainy start to the day, it brightened up and turned beautifully sunny
2. DD and I went out to a local park for a picnic and visited an eco fair - she had a whale of a time on rides, I got lots of freebies
3. DD and I both made a new friend eachShe played for about 30 mins with a little boy on the swings and roundabouts bit of the park and eventually us two mums got chatting and we're going to keep in touch and meet up.
4. I have been back on track dietwise and feel healthier and happier for it.
5. Currently curled up on the sofa enjoying the new BBC1 Sunday night drama and planning an early night with a good book. Aaaaah0 -
1) A lie-in on Saturday morning
2) Making some stock by pouring hot water into the roasting tin after lifting out some chicken pieces and having it in HM soup today
3) Finding I have some parsnips after all at the allotment. Everything else has been cleared by the slugs, I think
4) Planting something in my garden! At last! The area by the kitchen now has the plum tree, roses, a gooseberry bush (height 2 inches) a blackcurrant bush, alpine strawbs, lavendar and rosemary, most of which are cuttings from our last house
5) Some very knowledgeable replies to a post on the Greenfingered Section about greenhouses. I'm saving up for one (slowly) but know so little about it.0 -
Good evening everyone!
Ollie Costa Coffee didn't give us free coffee but they did offer to have a collection bucket in the shop all week so :T to their Manager for that. The can, bucket really, shake went well thanks, although my arms are aching today as the bucket had to be held aloft and I had to keep swapping arms
My five for today are:
1. DS3 is home, fast asleep, having had a brilliant time. He now can't wait to go on another, similar, activity holiday in August with the Youth Hostel Association. My dear Dad has paid for him to go then :A
2. Deciding not to bother with the usual Sunday dinner today and having bacon & egg sandwiches instead - yummy!
3. All the ironing is up to date.
4. Watching The Apprentice final with DH - I even set BB to watch at 7.30am in the morning. Me ................ obsessed - never :rotfl:
5. Watching the dog play with one of the cats - he definitely came off worse, as usual
6. I got all the washing dried outside despite no sun.
I hope that everyone has had a lovely evening and weekend & special thoughts to those who need it right now xxx0 -
Thank you all for the welcome 'home'.
Re sleeping in my own bed, how did you guess, Ollie?;) My DM snores rather loudly and I like to sit and read before I sleep so she had the bedroom and I had the sofa bed. I did open in out at first but it pointed at an alarming angle with my feet toward the ceiling and my head almost on the floor so I folded it back up. Fortunately I'm only 5 feet short so I just fitted. It was lovely to stretch out in my own bed last night, there's nothing like it, is there?
Lots of lovely reading here to catch up on, which is always a pleasure in my day.
Sunday blessings...
1. A long sleep-in this morning til gone 9am!
2. A bit of a wet one but the sun shone long enough for the village gala procession and floats to reach their destination field safely, and mainly dry :T
3. The rain filling my water butt and buckets. I hate it when I have to use the metered tap water so today's weather was a (mixed) blessing.
4. Very little post to have to deal with, nothing more taxing than a replacement Nectar card (I lost the last one) and a packet of carrot seeds so not much waste or recycling paper.
5. Really needed a small meal day after eating out most of last week, so had a couple of boiled eggs and soldiers for lunch and some fruit for tea, which was just right. I'll leave standing on the scales til tomorrow...or Tues...or...:D
Night night, God bless n sweet dreams

Welcome back to Caterina and Sparrer. Hello again:hello: to Kittikins and fedupandskint.
Today starts the last week of my DH working life as he retires on Friday. So my pleasures at the moment are:-
1. I have been tweaking the budget now for 18months to reduce all household bills.
2. I've always cooked from scratch and yesterday DS was complimenting me on how much nicer my food tasted than the bought stuff we had when we went out visiting last week.
3. I can keep myself in knitted garments made from sale wool, for cheap.
4. I have revisited my sewing skills to make skirts from material bought in the market for a couple of £££'s.
5. I am growing all sorts of salad stuff in the garden which is saving me at least a fiver a week.
So...... DH is retiring but I can see I am going to be busier than ever, but he does SAY he is going to help me.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: might do, watch this space.

Morning! Another hospital visit is on the agenda this afternoon..this time for me muvva & 'er eyzz' :rotfl:It's a good job I like programmes with a medical theme innit!
I've had another busy day--which for me is a miracle--so made the most of my rarely present enthusiasm to give the downstairs cloakroom a real good blitz.
Therefore, I'd like to list my pleasures for Sunday as:-
- getting the washing off the line & indoors less than 10mins before the rain began:TThe first load out had dried & the second was a bit damp but still benefitted from the fresh air.
- the loo looking as if it has been decorated, with clean pipes, skirting, window frames, etc....a job that I've been wanting to do for a while but not had the energy.
- sweeping the stairs down..the dog doesn't look like he has any bald patches so where does all that hair come from:eek:
- catching up with my cousin, whose brother had called in so I got to speak to the both of them. The last time I saw them was well over 10yrs ago
but hopefully that will change in the not-too-distant....
- just how good a plate of rasher, beans & chips can taste! I don't eat egg, but the slice of HM bread & a scrape of butter completed the dish beautifully
- having the foresight to make a rice pud before I began all the chores. The added bonus was that it came out just how we like it--thick & creamy--even if I did forget the sugar :whistle:No harm done, because the offspring had a dollop of strawberry jam on theirs while Pup licked the bowl clean in seconds
Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

Hi all
As promised, I am making a little effort to post my pleasures every day, it is good to remind myself of the goodness I receive every day!
Here are my five for yesterday:
1 - DH and I made great inroads in the garden, planting and fixing things around
2 - Managed to dry one whole load of laundry (and almost all of the second) before the rain came - second load only a little damp finished drying on bannister and various chairs.
3 - Free cinema with DH to see Last Chance Harvey with Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson, lovely gentle feel-good film - and we still have two more free tickets each with the Picturehouses membership!
4 - We treated ourselves to a lovely (if a bit expensive) meal after the cinema, reasoning that, if we had paid for the ticket, the total expenditure would have been really reasonable for a special evening out for two!
5 - Lovely ginger tea and a mag to read (Glamour, with freebie Benefit mascara!) in bed before sleeping.
And now starting for today's 5:
1 - Booked a free Dior make-up lesson with an offer from Woman and Home.
2 - Another W&H offer: Decleor treatment, back massage and facial for £25 redeemable against purchase (I need a face cream with spf so it will be ok) and also a lovely gift thrown in - bargain!
3 - Yesterday I swapped some of my spinach (which I had to take up because they were going to seed) with a fav lentil curry, with the old Indian lady who lives two doors down from me - anticipating a gorgeous rice and dal lunch!
4 - Took my time today in the shower and scrubbed with a mix of Epsom Salts and almond oil, which is softening, depurative and makes my skin feel lovely. The mix is just as good as some of the mega-expensive luxury scrubs but it cost me only £3 altogether and filled a 1Kg yogurt tub!
5 - Breakfast with DS, soft boiled egg on toast (no butter for me) and on his eggs I put the herby butter that I had saved from yesterday M&S veg that came with the "2 eat for £10" offer - I am still stretching that offer, this is the third meal that it contributed to!
I hope you all have a lovely day!
Caterina xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Thanks folks. I guess I get a lot of free stuff cos at the mo I am unemployed and as I'm single with no friends and family I have 24 hours to myself every day. Lots of time to waste looking ..lol I'd rather have a life than freebies sometimes tho :P
Saturday
1. Tea - lots of hot mugs
2. Reading my book club book - Lollipop Shoes the sequel to Chocolat and having a mug of Maltesers hot choc to go with it.
3. Kill Bill 1&2 with a beer
4. 3 dvds from Lovefilm - Magical Shopping Arcade, Comfort & Joy and Kung Fu
5. free rental form Lovefilm after complaining - I now have Burn After Reading to look forward to on top of my quota
6. Boots Foundation and Day cream full sizes to trial
7. Discovering the series Kung Fu - never saw it as a kid...
8. boiled eggs and asparagus for lunch. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Bellaquidsin - how exciting for your DH to be starting the last week of working. It must be a lovely feeling.
Reverbe - I must say I was surprised to see you say you have no friends - what about us lot on here?
Mine for yesterday
1. Waking early again and the sun shining despite the forecast being for rain.
2. Once DH woke up I suggested going out for the day.
3. Making a packed lunch and flask and driving out into North Wales.
4. Spending some quality time together and having a lovely walk without getting wet.
5. Managing to whizz through the housework between us whilst tea was cooking as I hate going to work on a Monday knowing that I need to come home and face housework after work. Don't mind if I have a day off or the weekend but not after a full day in the office.0
