How old is "too old" to have a bath with your children?

Well nobody claimed it was necessary.

Crikey, I would never have wanted a bath with my kids lol. This is something we never did with our four. Bathtime was about plastic ducks and wind-up toys whizzing through the water

They probably stopped about four ... I like my bath by myself but they used to say they would just sit on the edge and put their feet in and then would accidently slip in. The girls used to bath together but dd1 sees this as her pamper time!Don’t put it down - put it away!

Reality was it was a pain - too many limbs, not enough space and certainly no comfort should you try some loving time. Limbs against enamel - ouch! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Nevermind the argument of who gets stuck with the tap end and temp of the water :rotfl:Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I never bathed with my children, occasionally they will come in if they are still up but I generally wait until they are n bed so I can enjoy it without having toys thrown at me and all of my bubbles spread around the room!0

We stopped baths with DS when he was around 3, as that's when he could confidently bath himself. We obviously stay in there and supervise his washing, but he will also play with his toys in there as well.
It became odd to us to bath with him any longer. Afterall, he doesn't normally see us naked
I don't think there is a right or a wrong though, depends what works best for your family.0 -
I would still bath with them, but we often bath our 3 yr old and 9 month old together, 3 in a bath is a bit of a squeeze. Wife and I don't bath together any more because of leaving the kids on their own, maybe when they're older. Closest we get is when wife is in bath on her own with candles and incense burning, and I come charging in with my tablet for a sh*t (next house needs to have 2 toilets)0

My 2 were so different - eldest stopped wanting to share his bath before he was 2 but youngest is 10 and he still gets in with his dad sometimes, but stopped getting in with me a couple of years ago.
Yours will probably decide for themselves. It probably wouldn't bother me if my 10 year old still wanted to get in with me, but I don't think I'd want a teenager to share my bath. Maybe it wouldn't bother some though.0 -
When my middle son was 11 he came into the bathroom and saw me in the bath with his younger brother, who was 7 at the time.
He decided to come in as well. It had been around 2 years since he had last bathed with me. It was so funny because he obviously didn't want me to see him naked, so he got undressed on the landing, wrapped himself up in a towel then carefully whipped the towel away as he dropped himself into the bubbles!0 -
I don't have my own children but you have ignited a memory from my childhood..
My mam used to bath me and then my dad would come in at the end whilst I got out, I stood on the rim holding his hands and would jump as high as I could off the bath rim. It was a bath ritual.
However, I got to a certain age (probably about 7-8) where I distinctly remember saying he wasn't allowed in anymore. He used to wind me up by pretending he was coming in and I would squeal to my mam (who was still in with me) that he couldn't :D
I think the above shows that the children tend to make the rules if the parents are still happy and comfortable with the situation0
