Could you live without your desktop PC?

Thing is I still find myself automatically sitting on it as I find it simply has everything I need stored on it, maybe I'm still old fashion minded!
I do have a BB playbook so no real options there and will need to invest in a 'proper' tablet but any tips on how you eventually migrated away from your PC and did you regret it?

A laptop on a desk takes up far less space than a desktop pc. If you don't need the extra portability of a tablet they're the perfect solution.0

It may be old fashioned these days, but I find I am much more productive with a real keyboard and mouse as attached to my desktop computer. I could manage with a laptop and attach a mouse, but I prefer a larger screen.
Also desktops traditionally give you more "bang for your buck" and are easier to upgrade and/or customize than laptops or tablets. My tablet is great for letting me know I've got mail and reading it, but to compose anything more than a brief reply, it's back to the dektop...I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. 'Proper' typing on a tablet isn't practical. A full-size keyboard and a big screen is a must. After 3 or 4 lines of typing on an iPad, I'm done. The left arm aches from holding the thing up, the right from the small on-screen keyboard, and the neck aches because it's not at eye height.
For anyone who wants any significant amount of storage for music in CD resolution or above, a desktop is a must, if you want the storage within the computer, and not on a collection of USB drives...0 -
I haven't used a desktop for more than trivial short tasks since 2010, and haven't owned one since around 2008. My work is primarily based around using a computer and I manage absolutely fine with a laptop. I do have a tablet but I don't use it much.0

Yes......
For about 1 week until my new power supply turned up. During that time I had to endure Eastenders, Big Brother and the box set of Vampire Diaries.
Phone, Tablet, laptops...... Laptop ain't too bad, but phone/tablet is utterly useless, so restrictive and "NO I DO NOT ****ING WANT YOUR !!!!!! MOBILE WEBSITE!!!! Give me the full fat website NOW, oh your forcing me even through i've requested the desktop site!! Great.........."“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Bought a laptop six years ago and got rid of the desk top soon after. Now only use the laptop for updating sat nav etc and some banking tasks as iPad I bought three years ago meets all my needs, use mifi or Galaxy S3 if I can't access wifi.0

You will get differing views from each individual as they all use the theirs differently.
It is perfectly feasible to have only a tablet as your connection to the world and many people do, but, again it depends on what you use the machine for.
As for migrating to tablet use, you just need to move your stored stuff to the cloud or as suggested a NAS drive. Whether either set up would suit your use only you can say.
Could I live without my desktop, well not to move to just a tablet, but at a push I could and have lived, with a good laptop.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

I must be in the minority who really can't get on with a tablet.
I have an Ipad that is basically a paper weight! Most of my friends have abandoned their desktops and just use their tablets.
First choice is always my desktop. Then my laptop.
I'm only in my 20's and it's not like i'm some sort of luddite.0 -
I use desktop, laptop, tablet and phone; each has its strengths and weaknesses.0
