I just looked again in the BIOS and found this, is this what you were after, BIOS VERSION V1.0J (08-21-2008).
Also probably of no interest but this comes up on a normal boot up at the very beginning, AHCI OPTION ROM BIOS REVISION: 01.05.00 DATE: 05-27-20070 -
Hi NiftyDigits, I'm glad your back and yes you are right, something big came up before and I had to regretfully hold off what I was doing then but now I want to progress fully with this.
I am worried others keep mentioning drivers for everything still being available but if you think this is no real concern then I will go ahead with this providing the last bit of info you wanted is ok.
I currently do not have any SSD drives, I am pretty sure they are SATA drives.
As for the details you said you wanted, there is no number on the back of the PC other than the Windows Vista label but this is the model I have Medion Akoya P7300D http://www.pocket-lint.com/review/70720-medion-akoya-p7300d-desktop-pc
I looked for the BIOS string but could not find it, can you guide me any further with finding this, getting into the BIOS is no trouble but finding the string it does not appear anywhere obvious to me.
Sorry NiftyDigits for my past disappearance and your patience it was not planned at all but rather a nuisance to me.
Once again....Write down all of the numbers written on the plate at the back. Art. No. MSN. No. SN. No.
In addition, EVEREST Home Edition 2.20 and look under Summary for the BIOS firmware version. I want to know whether it's MLN or IM7.0 -
Hi NiftyDigits, after disconnecting everything I looked at the back like I was going blind and couldn't see something that was right in front of me but then I pulled it out of its awkward location to examine the whole case and found some more labels underneath so this should be it.
On Medion label
Art. No. 10012019
MODEL PC MT9
TYPE MED MIT 506
SER. NO. 14618010050191
EAN: 25159783
PLU: 7364
YC: 11/08
Under the bar code 461801MEDGB
Then on a very plane label
P/N 20039675
S/N JS0020016
Is that it all ?
As for the BIOS info from Everest, I got the following
BIOS TYPE AWARD
AWARD BIOS TYPE PHOENIX - AWARDBIOS v6.00PG
Field Value
Award BIOS Message W7502IM7 V1.0J 08/21/2008 MEDIONPC LN
Field Value
System BIOS Date 08/21/08
Does the LN at the end maybe mean the answer to what you are asking about MLN or IM7 as I cannot see them displayed as you have asked?
Sorry trying my best to be helpful.0 -

That is everything that I need for now. I'll get back to you a bit later.
You can delete your post if you don't want your numbers to remain up. harmless, but you might want to delete them anyway.0 -
So Medion have rather unhelpfully removed the latest firmware update for your machine from their website.
Notwithstanding, I have it here: W7502IM7.10R DOS Flash package for the MS 7502 mainboard
Even better, it appears that machine may not be too keen about booting from a USB drive, usually the safest way of updating to latest BIOS version for your Motherboard.
Otherwise the options are to Run the update through Windows(risky as there are so many unknowns that can interfere with the operation, such as things that you may have installed along the way) or the slightly convoluted booting off a Bootable CD that contains the program through which we can update the firmware.
Changelog:
W7502IM7.10QImplement OEM Activation 2.1 for Windows 7 as Customer requested.
For Win7 WHQL test require, disable E-SATA function in SATA port 1 / 2 .
Cancel F11 mode.
Fix Nvidia Oribi GFX + 3G memory + driver installed hang in OS.
Remove all of the on_board VGA items from setup menu.
Fix WHQL Single Computer Cardreader test fail.
W7502IM7.10R'Wake-Up By PCI card' greyed out. Default to Enabled.
So you can choose to install their latest update(which comes with some risk to the machine) or you can leave it as it is and to buy Windows 7 64 bit and an SSD drive, leaving the RAM at 4GB.
The first option saves you the cost of buying an OS and may allow further upgrading of the machine. The second, still brings the benefit of a faster and more efficient machine. Of course we cannot guarantee there will be no issues with having the SSD as your primary drive and your current drive as storage, as I cannot run a test on a board that I don't have.
You can decide on which way to go and then we will assist you, either way.0 -
Ok thanks not sure I understand everything in the quote boxes at this point or where you got these quotes from but I understand the rest of what you are saying, plus I decided to try and run the update you kindly gave in windows and it opens up a Dos box but the trouble is it does something and brings up some text so quick that I cannot see what it says, ie successful, failed or what ever.
I tried pressing the pause break key but that does not seem to help here. The window pops up for about 1 to 2 seconds maximum, any ideas how to get it to slow down or pause so I can read the message.0 -

I wasn't suggesting that you run it. I want you to decide....as running it is very risky. If it goes wrong the machine is kaput. Actually not, but it might need someone with technical knowledge on site to restore it. It's the nature of BIOS updates...especially if you attempt it through Windows.
If you decide to take the risk, I will guide you through the update.
In the meantime, I'll send you a PM.0 -
If you do decide to risk the BIOS update...
Step one is to update the Motherboard firmware to the latest version.
(I will emphasise that you do this entirely at your own risk)
For that you will need the USB Flash drive(smallest capacity that you have). Remove anything that you wish to keep from the Flash drive, as it will be erased during this process.
Pop it into the PC....
Download and run Rufus
Use these settings:
This is fine. You can leave it or change it to MS-DOS.
Device will set itself.
New Volume Label is whatever you want it to be. You can leave it at whatever it says.
Leave Cluster Size at Default
Now you can click Start.
It will format the drive and make it Bootable.
Once complete, you can close Rufus.
Now you need to place the files for the update on to the USB flash drive.
You'll need to copy and paste just these three files; W7502IM7.10R, AWFL884A and autoexec to the now bootable USB flash drive.
Now with the USB drive plugged in to the PC, you can restart the machine, hit F12(or whichever option takes you to boot options) on restart and choose to boot from the USB drive.
Once chosen, it will boot from the USB drive and will begin the Motherboard update. Wait until it is complete and then restart when requested.
If the machine refuses to boot from USB for one reason or another, we may be able to place those three files on yourdrive(which is likely formatted to FAT32) and to use a Bootable CD to get into the environment needed to run the update from there. Do you still have the original discs that came with the PC?

Yes I still have original discs that came with the PC.
Kids permitting I will try to sort out the USB drive over the weekend and come back to you.
Many thanks for all this.0 -
If you are feeling exceptionally reckless, you can flash it through Windows. Easier, but certainly less reliable.
Package is here
Unzip to reveal the folder within.
Within that folder is a Help folder. Within that folder are instructions in the form of pictures. The first step of course would be to run WinFlash as Administrator, by right clicking on it and choosing 'Run As Administrator' and then following what is shown in the Help folder pictorial.0
