Thursday 17th September - What small debt free wanabee things will you do today?

Olliegami
Posts: 414 Forumite

As the thread title suggests this thread is for tracking the small but important actions we take every day to keep on top of the pennies and reduce the debt.
When we start our debt free journey we focus on the big things. Cutting up the credit cards. Cancelling expensive memberships. But along the way it is just as important to focus on small things that are done each day but build up to help us on the way. Examples -taking cash to the supermarket, making a shopping list,buying YS food, walking instead of driving short journies.
Good luck with your small things today. :money:

Morning everyone!
It's 1pm here, so I thought I'd get a thread up and going.
Hope everyone is doing well, and feeling motivated. I've got a huge list of 'big' things to do today, mostly making phone calls so that should be fun. :undecided:
Other than that, everything on my list is 'the usual'.
- G!ftHulk (Although I'm looking for two more people to be 'code buddies' with.)
- Cl!xsense
- Ne0bux
- Buxvert!se
- Surveys
- FPL/Lucky Phone
I tend to check everyone else's lists for 'daily' things, but if anyone knows of any (and wants to refer me to them!!) I'd be grateful.
Have a great day, guys. =D0 -
Hi Olliegami :wave: thanks for starting the thread
Sorry not sure what you mean about referring?
Hope everyone is ok. BB hope mini BB is better now.
Bob happy anniversary for yesterday! Hope you and Mr Bob had a lovely evening together.
Dawn hope you survived having dgd for the dayit rained continuously here yesterday and mid afternoon we hit a boredom wall. So I brought the quilts downstairs and we set up camp in the lounge floor and theat entertained us for a while. Then I made her a little fort and we watched some TV before she konked out! It's sad that midday naps are becoming a thing of the past - that 1 1/2hrs midday was great for getting things done and recharging batteries!
Not much small things for me today as am off to London to pick up what's left of my late mother's belongings - just photos. No doubt that is going to be emotional for me later going through them...
Anyway small things:
* have breakfast before I go and take sandwich & fruit so I don't eat out. My db has a lot more money than us so will probably want to eat out but I will remain strong and eat my hm food!
* checked banking
* try to contact dd. Contact didn't happen yesterday so we arranged to skype but she didnt give me her skype details...
* contact ms company and reassign assignment planned for Saturday
* have 3 items ending on fleabay today 2 of which have bids
* need to photo 2 items and then list the 8 items I have photoed tonight
* something easy for dinner tonight - probably something from the food we were given by oh's parents
* submit meter readings & call FU
* really really really will write up the complaint letters today!
Ok that's me! Have a great day xDF as at 30/12/16

Morning Ollie - thanks for starting us off. After yesterday's 14 hour marathon day I am hoping for a bit of a quieter day today. I do have a list as long as my arm of things to do though...
I have alreadyplucked my eyebrows (to save £11.50 waxing cost)
put rubbish out
changed cat litter trays
made packed lunches for me and DD
And I still need tosort DD birthday card
investigate cost of cinema for her present.
plan next week's lessons
mark a set of books
do a massive stack of photocopying
restock my equipment trolley
produce a test paper
check banking and PAD if possible
Mark extra exam papers
There is also another school open evening tonight, but I'm not sure we're going to go. DD has chosen where she wants to go so I'm hoping we can give it a miss. I actually already feel quite frazzled... therefore I must also try and make time to relax, although use my PPA wisely.Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Morning everyone :hello:
Bob - here's hoping to another good day sales wise. You asked me the other day about my own business. I run a health and wellbeing business, but also coach and mentor lots of others to do the same and run their own business from home (usually around children and existing commitments). Challenging but very rewardingI also saw yesterday you posted about Mr s - have you signed up to their my coupons website. If you haven't well worth a look, I don't know if the offers are the same for everyone but one of mine yesterday was 900 points on a £30 spend :T
My list for today:
Visit dentist shortly - already paid for. Must see if I can face the needle. Had the last treatment without anaesthetic. It was okay but uncomfortable. Not sure I can face it again
Checking banking. Pay day tomorrow, and I'm in credit in both accounts for the first time in ages :j will PAD what's left
Meals from stores/freezer
Post card to cousin whose got engaged
Post incentive prize to one of my team, get receipt for my books
Washing outside, washed on 30 - trying to get all done today whilst weather set fair
Might order nail varnish form martins email for Xmas present for god daughter
Used te5co club card to book cottage for few days away to see DH gran later in year
Book outside work at rented house now I have saved funds and got a very reasonable quote
Think that's about all, have a good day everyone. Will be thinking of you DNMS0 -
Morning all!
Confession time - I did switch the heating on for an hour last night! :eek: My excuse is that my work is freezing, plus I get wet in the rain at lunchtime so really couldn't face being cold in the evening too!
Bob - Happy anniversary for yesterday! I made thai curry too but it was too hot for OH who was sweating but still ate the lot! Pleased business picked up yesterday!
DNMS - Hope today goes as well as it can.
Jonno - Good luck at the dentist!
Today I have/will:-
* Check banks
* No TV on this morning
* Do washing up
* Put crochet in car so I don't forget to take to parents later
* Take lunch to work
* Check FPL
* Earn more on One Poll
* Sort out washing on airer
* Go to circuits
* Visit parents as dads birthday
* Dinner from stores - probably just a jacket potato and half a tin of bins which is in the fridge
* Go through freezer and sort meal plan for the week using odd portions of things
So OH is off on his holibobs later. Really dreading him going actually as I'm one of those people that is no good in their own company! However I have got quite a busy weekend and will be busy training next week, so hopefully wont be too bad! At least it will be MSE as only me to feed/shower etc!
Hope you all have a good day!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)0 -
Hey everyone! Hope no one minded that I started us off. It gets lonely here on the other side of the world when there's no thread to post to!!!
I just want to share a huge accomplishment with you.
I've just called all three credit card debtors, and set up direct debits for each one for a small amount every month to make sure everything keeps going smoothly. It's taken months for me to find the energy to get this done, I'm so pleased with myself. rofl.
Now I just have to make sure I have the money in my account every month. !!!0 -
Hi all, wow sounds like everyone has fantastic plans for the day. I'm at a work conference from now until tomorrow afternoon so that's lunch, dinner, and breakfast / lunch tomorrow covered. The OH is on strict instructions not to get takeaway whilst I'm away for the night.
So my only objective today is not to start on the booze and get involved in that. Early night for me, no "networking" till the early hours for me today!
Good luck everyone hope you have a great day :-) xStarted DMP with stepchange - Feb 2016 Self Managed - October 2016
