Hotel room description - do I have a point?

Options
Certain hotel I stay at has two types of room. On their website, they have standard double and ensuite double. Only difference is the standard doubles have no windows (And are cheaper).

So I avoid the standard ones because I want a window.

Generally I used booking.com, hotel.com, or laterooms.com to book.

So yesterday I booked on laterooms and the room was listed as ensuite double - no mention of no window.

Got to hotel quite late and got room with no window. Complained but got told the hotel was full.

Pretty sure hotel are trying it on and because I got there late, they tried to fob me off with a different room hoping I wouldnt kick off.

Do I have a leg to stand on here? I ended up having to stay - no choice but I aint happy.

  • If you didn't get the room you booked and paid for, I would imagine you are well within your rights to ask for the difference in room prices to be refunded to you.

Does their website specifically say the difference between the 2 room types is window/no window?

Do the booking agencies specifically say what the difference is?

On their website they do. A standard double room has no windows, an ensuite double has windows.

On hotel website they have standard double, ensuite double, ensuite twin. They only have a few standard double but it clearly states no windows.

On laterooms they have ensuite double and ensuite twin. As such I would expect that if I booked ensuite double I would get the ensuite double as per their website.

After all when you book, you just get a list of rooms available. I just assumed laterooms only listed these two because all the standard doubles (which are cheaper) were booked....

Still think the hotel are thinking, its a double its ensuite, we can get away with it.

You booked with laterooms and they didn't specify that a room had a window.
You got what the booking website specified - an en-suite double..

To 'expect' and 'assume' is dangerous.

Just how much difference are you talking about here?
And how much of an issue was not having a window for you?

You say you've stayed there before, how many times and how often?

What sort of prices have you previously paid for the rooms with windows? How much did you pay this time? What is the difference between what they usually charge between a windowed and non windowed room?

Maybe your cleaner snuck in behind your back and changed the reservation?

I can't see your post Azari but I'm glad that you've found something to do with your life like following me from thread to thread.

Twice before. Same as I paid this time. I think the non-windows one is £10 cheaper.

I dont want my £10 - I wanted the room I booked - a normal one. If I wanted to save £10 I would have booked the standard one.
