You need to alert DVLA as soon as possible, for both your driving license and vehicle registration. You don't notify the police (assuming this is what you meant) unless the NIP you were provided in the vehicle says so.0

Can you go on a driver awareness course for running a red light?0
-
In some areas
1. A strongly worded letter (like they ever use that one).
2. An awareness course.
3. 3 points and an FPN (think he said it was a £160 fine).
4. A court summons.
He did say that it's incredibly rare that option 4 is used. Supposedly 9/10 it is at the drivers discretion as opposed to the police who mainly want to send people on courses. Who else is going to pay for the summer party?
That said, I wouldn't trust a copper as far as I could throw him/her, which isn't very far because they're usually pretty overweightSo I'm fully expecting a court summons just for !!!!!! and giggles.

Staffordshire being one. The officer explained there were 4 courses of action:
1. A strongly worded letter (like they ever use that one).
2. An awareness course.
3. 3 points and an FPN (think he said it was a £160 fine).
4. A court summons.

As I said, I was checking my mirrors come off the exit, because it's quite a dangerous road at the best of times. Plenty of collisions on there. The lights are on the roundabout. I checked my rear view mirror and my left mirror, because people also tend to undertake on that exit. I look back and the lights were just switching from amber to red. Either way, what's done is done.
Oh stop bleating about it!
All of us who drive check our mirrors and are cautious on known danger spots but only the rubbish drivers are unable to do this with competence and run red lights.
Take your points and I'd suggest a refresher course on the basics of driving.0 -

You're telling us that you managed to drive round a difficult bend without looking at the road ahead of you for at least 3 seconds (from green->red)? I think that loses you any rights to be cheeky to people commenting on your driving ability.0
