We only switched from them a month ago, so I would hope they have records! :rotfl: EON said they might take until the end of the month to send readings over, so I suppose I should be glad it's happened this soon.0

Scheduled grocery delivery for next week when we're home for solar install anyway. On our last jar of peanut butter for the dogs' kongs so need to avoid a crisis situation.
M0rrisons apparently delivers to our area now, so got £5 off our first delivery. :T That technically puts us over budget for groceries this month but we'll make it up next month as we'll be stocked up on staples.
Also spent £2.97 of my allowance!First time this month that Am@zon's kindle daily deals have been appealing. Still have £57.52 this month and am debating £50 for knitting needles, but there's no rush.
Otherwise plodding along. Spending the weekend with DH's boss and fiancee in the country, so will only have travel expenses (in theory). Also get the fun of taking the new dog (a very friendly greyhound) on public transport (bus, tube, and train!) through central London. (Old dog is very experienced but equally friendly, so both will be trying to mug people for pettings.) Should be interesting...0 -
You're having a good week!
You don't need the knitting needles (save them for a Christmas pressie) so just OP the £50 - you know that's what you'll end up doing anywayMFW 2017 #123 2018: £1,852.64/£39,200 (4.7%)0 -

Yeah, lots of MSE opportunities when you think to look for them. (I only checked out M0rrisons in the first place because they had the cheapest peanut butter - assumed they still didn't deliver to our area.)You don't need the knitting needles (save them for a Christmas pressie) so just OP the £50 - you know that's what you'll end up doing anyway
Ha. I'm trying not to OP my allowance money as I don't want to get too far into "throw all the money at the mortgage" land given that we're in this for the next 5 years. That said, I really don't need knitting needles (or anything else, really), so will probably end up shifting some of my allowance towards an OP. If I can do at least £20 we should break into the 164k range in November.(Still far more motivated to OP the mortgage than pay our savings back for the solar panels. Hoping that the season ticket loan from work can be sorted out for November's paycheque and then I won't have to.
Still have to come up with another £150 in the next few weeks if we want to do the water softener deal, though.)

Our contract with BG ended in August and we were waiting until mid-Sept to switch so that we could get their free smart meter install. Pulled the plug on that as the smart meters look crap at the moment (thought they'd be universal rather than supplier-specific). The same day I started our MSE switch, I swapped our tariff with BG to a fixed price one that included a £50 Amazon gift card. No requirements on the gift card, so was pleased to see that come through today! DH says he feels guilty getting it since we were only on the tariff 2 weeks, but I'm happy to get something for free from them.We certainly paid enough over the last 2 years between energy and boiler/home cover, I think we've still been a profitable customer for them.

On the energy front, we finally got our final bill from BG. (Shockingly, the meter readings they got from EON were identical to the readings we submitted as we sent the same readings to EON as starting readings, yet it takes a month to process.) Called up to get a refund, which seemed to surprise the customer service rep quite a bit - he asked several times if I really wanted a refund, and if I wanted a refund of the full amount. I declined to make a donation to the BG coffers.hiddenshadow wrote: »We only switched from them a month ago, so I would hope they have records! :rotfl: EON said they might take until the end of the month to send readings over, so I suppose I should be glad it's happened this soon.
Hi hiddenshadow
Glad the switch has gone through okay. Thought I'd pop on with a bit of information about what happens when an energy supply changes over. It's the new supplier's responsibility to let the old supplier know the meter readings they intend to use to start their account. The old supplier uses the same readings to close their account. This stops the same energy being charged twice.
Readings and other details are passed between the two suppliers and certain third parties (regional distributor, meter operator, meter reading agent, national database etc) via a series of electronic messages. These messages let all those involved with your energy supply know about the changed circumstances. Although we're already supplying, it may be longer before all the information's in place.
If you change your mind about a Smart Meter, we're currently installing them in certain areas. There's no charge and you can register an interest through our website or by giving us a call.
Have you opted in to receive E.ON Reward points? You can earn up to 1500 points each year. These can be exchanged for either Tesco Clubcard points or High Street Shopping Vouchers. It's a free scheme but you'll need to opt in to earn the points. Again, this can be done online or over the phone.
You can take more control of your monthly payments online, too, including changing the amount. This is through the 'Direct Debit Manager.' Comes in handy should circumstances change. Provided the account is billed up to the latest meter readings, payments can be changed by up to 20 per cent up or down. By up to 5 per cent up or down without readings. Before confirming the new amount, we'll let you know by how much we anticipate the account will be in credit/debit by the time of the annual review if payments are changed but usage doesn't alter as expected.
Hope this is of interest hiddenshadow. Helena and I can usually be found lurking around the Energy Forum so let us know if you need any help or information.

Thanks for the info, Malc. Given that everything's done electronically, I was surprised that it took so long (relatively speaking) to send the readings over. Appears to be sorted now, anyway.
I believe we opted in for rewards points when we registered, but will confirm that.0 -
You're welcome hiddenshadow. Glad it's all sorted.
Have a good weekend.

£6.43 from MB today.
Money-shuffle planned for tomorrow so that we're ready to pay for solar on Tuesday. Bit of a shame as we just shuffled money around in the last month to get high-interest savings, but in theory payday is Wednesday so it should re-distribute soon.
Pretty MSE weekend - DH went over-budget on his allowance this month as there were books for sale at the film screening we went to, but he'll spend less next month to balance it out. Otherwise we had a lovely time with our hosts, and didn't spend any money either!
(Sundaysgirl, I think I've decided to compromise by buying knitting cables, which are far more useful to me right now than needles, and save the needle purchase(s) for Christmastime. Cables are only £4.50 each, too! I'm also going to experiment with lowering my allowance to £100 rather than £150 - we'll see if it feels tight, or if I'm sad that DH gets a bigger allowance than me. Hoping I'll just be happy to OP the mortgage more!)0
