    Morning all!

    Miserable cold day again! Determined that no heating will go on until at least October!

    Today I have/will:-
    * Check banks
    * Check FPL
    * No TV on this morning
    * Chop up half a melon which is in the fridge
    * Take lunch to work
    * Earn more on OnePoll
    * Look into bday present for dad
    * Go to circuits
    * Dinner from stores
    * Hang up clean clothes

    Think that's everything for today! I swear my lists are getting shorter! Hope you all have a good day!
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,555.00
    Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)

    Hi everyone, Ziggy and Lego Mum - Thanks for starting the new thread.

    It would be fair to say that yesterday did not go to plan, as by early afternoon I was feeling so ill that I came home and took to my bed. I'm still not feeling too well today, got a bad head cold and a pulled muscle in my shoulder so having a lazy day.

    So far today all I have done is sent ds1 to school armed with packed lunch and decanted the little ones to childminder and phoned in sick as I’m meant to be in Uni.

    Plans for rest of today:
    Do 2 loads of washing *done*
    Read over course work as look over the next section where possible *done*
    Get some rest *done*
    Check banking *done*
    Sort out present for dh, as his birthday is next week
    Check FPL *done*
    Check luckyphone *done*
    Get rid of 50 emails *done*
    Check junk folder on emails *done*
    All meals from stores *done*
    Swagbucks
    Look for part time work *done*
    Check onepoll
    Complete tree survey that’s has come in
    Have a NSD
    Check Cl*xsense
    Do daily on JPJ whilst avoiding temptation to spend
    Find ID card as I need it for tomorrow
    Look into topping up ds1’s lunch card

    I think that is more than enough to get through today, so I best get cracking. Hope everyone has a good Tuesday x

    Morning all :)
    Thanks for starting us off Ziggy and Legomum. Great minds really do think alike :)

    Bob, you are absolutely NOT a failure. It is really hard for small businesses at the moment as despite what our rubbish government keep telling us, things are NOT looking up for most people and they simply don't have much, if any, disposable income to spend :( If you do decide to close the cafe, which you might, as you will need to focus on your new baby soon, there is nothing to say that you can't open another one at a later date, when baby is older and your debts are gone. Or you might decide to do something entirely different! I have done lots of different things, none of which have made me rich, but when circumstances changed, or I have simply stopped enjoying them, I have moved onto something else. Sometimes I have been sad at not achieving what I was aiming at, but there was / is always something else :D There is no point in beating yourself up about it. You have worked really hard and given it your best shot, often under really difficult circumstances, on top of all that cycling and other DFW stuff :eek: You should be proud of what you have achieved :T

    Gosh that sounds like a lecture :o Once a teacher, always a teacher I guess (even though that was really quite a long time ago...) :rotfl:

    My list for today:
    Finish cleaning house (done :T)
    Bread maker on (done)
    Bolognese in SC (done)
    Washing on, hoping to peg on the line later but the weather is pants here :( Oh well, have to get the airer out.

    Still to do:
    Check banks
    Any surveys that are available
    Check quidco (thanks for the suggestion Legomum)
    Try and find random carp to chuck out / recycle. A poster on the Konmari thread had a hilarious list yesterday, and this has inspired me to try to compile my own. So far, I have disposed of an empty bottle of children's bubble blowing liquid, a random piece of coloured glass from the sink area in the ensuite (why?), and a sea shell which has been evicted into the garden. Must do better!
    If it dries up instead of raining yet again, pick off remaining tomatoes and dispose of old plants. They really need to be dry though, or they will go mouldy quickly
    Pick anything else that is ready (I am looking at you, cucumbers and courgettes)
    Do more tidying in the garden (like a jungle atm :eek:)
    Clean the BBQ and put it away. No more summer :(
    Meals from stores
    NSD :T

    I have made a good start, let's hope the weather is kind to me and I can get some of the outside stuff done!

    Hope everyone has a good day :)

    Afternoon everyone :)

    Bob - so sorry to hear that :( I hope it picks up soon for you :)

    Hope you're all having a good day. Got a long day today, at work until 8, then home for dinner, then going to mums as got an early morning hospital app.

    Here's what I've been up to/going to do today:
    - All meals from stores (breakfast, lunch done)
    - Sort out unit in lounge and spare room for moving
    - Find b/day card from stock for my niece
    - Wrap present for my niece
    - Take photo of bundle of stuff I have for sale
    - List bundle of stuff for sale
    - Spend less that £1 on my snack at work (don't have much in as we're moving soon so don't want to stock up)
    - Fill up bottle at work instead of buying a drink
    - Check FPL
    - Write a list of things to do before move
    - Write a list of things to do before holiday
    - Write Oct rota in diary
    - Pack overnight back for mums

    Think that is about it for now.
    Have a good day everyone
    Read my diaryHere :)
  • Thanks for starting LegoMum and Ziggy
    Hope things pick up for you Bob

    Today:
    - NSD
    - All meals from stores (bread is baking away in the breadmaker)
    - Waiting for rent reimbursement cheque to clear and deposit money to hit my bank account. They tried to deduct £70 off for cleaning the front of my kitchen cupboards and tiles which I'm fuming about! :mad: I scrubbed everything! I knew they would find something to charge for - what a money-making racket. The landlord contributed £30 towards it because I moved out early so they have taken £40 off the deposit :mad: I haven't got the energy to challenge it. I'm so glad I live in social housing again.
    - I haven't rang up to see how much interest I'd save by repaying my loan early as I won't have enough to pay it all off at this stage anyway. I know that's not very DFW but I'm going to stick with my original plan of 'repaying' most of what I owe my savings and buying a winter coat! The rest can go in the wedding fund :)
    - FPL and surveys to check. I downloaded the valued opinions app so hopefully I can do some surveys on the move
    - Banking checked and spending diary updated
    - New online savings account set up as a separate wedding pot
    - My extra hours at work have been semi-confirmed as starting on 1st October :T
    - Found 5p on the floor :D I make sure I keep an eye out when I'm walking the poochy!

    Have a lovely day everyone

    Princess Pea, DO challenge it. You can do so by contacting the government scheme your deposit is lodged with. If it is not lodged with one of the schemes, your LL has been breaking the law. Google it. And you should have been informed of the contact details for the scheme.

    Appeals are nearly always decided in favour of the tenant, unless there have been serious issues (I used to let a property and was a member of the National Landlords Association. My tenants left a right mess and some damage, but I didn't keep any of their deposit as any appeal was likely to be upheld in their favour).
  • Lots of great advice on here - love this thread sorry been so quiet and reading not posting mainly.

    Thanks for the reminder I checked quidco and the £53 for the AA has tracked!

    WOOP WOOP.

    Must attack that list. Hope everyone's afternoon is good. ((BOB))

    Evening DFW-ers, :wave:

    It's been busy at Dowd Towers today: mainly sitting at the laptop:

    Pippi: you're back!

    Nillionaire Month Four:

    * Turned alarm clock off at the wall til tonight.

    * Stubbornly using the last of the shower gel.

    * Checked broadband allowance. It's going to be tight.

    * eBay have refunded fees. Only took 24 hours, thankfully. This month's food budget is now £50.

    * Dinner is random flavoured pasta from food parcel and some sausages.

    * Energy company compensation hasn't been refunded yet.

    * Culled lots of files today: paper and digital.

    * Huge amount of job-seeking.

    * Eat broken biscuits.

    * Downloaded newer version of 7-zip file compressor for free then backed up all our files by emailing them to myself. I'd hate to lose them.

    * Used free Disk Defragment, Disk Cleanup and AVG Anti-Virus to tune-up PC.

    * Watched all the overnight recordings from our PVR.

    Have a good evening all.
