DNMS - I feel you green tomato pain - I bought DD1 her own tomato plant this year - well for 79p so far we've had about a dozen tomatoes off it and there are about another 20 or so on it (and loads more flowers) but alas like you - they are all green and we have only managed to get 1 red.DH read somewhere that putting them with bananas helps, but so far no joy - any greenfingered bunnies offer advice?
I was going to type a long post about natural ethylene to ripen them...but this page tells you just as well! (Link)Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -

I knew Wales & NI already charged, but didn't know Scotland had too. I use the 'dodgy' charity bags too - they make good kitchen bin liners as they're so big. Oh well, carrier bags will be another freebie to look out for on dog walks. There's usually a few about on the country lanes leading out of town, thrown out of passing cars once the occupants have had their late night snacks!
I had a good wombling day today - I picked up a Caf! Nero card with 9 stamps on, right outside CN & just when I needed a coffee,so went straight in for a large free cappuchino which would have cost £2.70. (Don't know if I've spelt that right).0 -
Morning everyone!
I've just realised that, as from October 5th, shops in England will be charging for carrier bags so I need to accumulate as many as possible before then. I usually refuse a bag, but there are times when you do need one.
I have a collection of old style shopping bags - some newer hessian ones from supermarkets and elsewhere, and various others acquired from goodness knows where. None are glamorous, but they are sturdy and I use them again and again. If I get a carrier bag I tend to use it as a bin linerBad news for Santander 123 customers:

Thanks for this Ally, I have one of these accounts that I use mainly as a savings account. I will review.I use the 'dodgy' charity bags too - they make good kitchen bin liners as they're so big.
Charity bags have been linked with criminal gangs where I live, and we get loads, sometimes several in one day, despite my 'no circulars / junk mail / cold callers etc' sign on the door, and on the odd occasion when I have put them out, they haven't been collected in any case  I now treat all of these as 'dodgy' and use as bin liners. It is easy enough to take charity donations to the local charity shops or the charity recycling containers in the supermarket car parks, and I do this.0 -
Evening all
Think I might (touch wood) be getting the hang of being too busy to turn around during the week. Interesting to read re the carrier bags - I use them as bin liners as well... I have a massive stash though so won't need to buy actual bin liners just yet.
Got most stuff done today - checked my bank (no PAD as it was already a nice round number and I am skint), had a NSD, meals from stores and a bit of washing, washing up and not much else.
Workwise I got my set of books marked and all planning for tomorrow. No time to do any of the other stuff that they like us to do but the important stuff is out of the way.
Went to my friend's exercise class which was lovely but I am already starting to stiffen up, so nice hot shower and in bed already...

It's already Tuesday here, almost 10.30am actually, and I should be in the shower and getting ready to do a bunch of stuff.
tbh it's very apt that I'm here so late, as most of this is going to be babble.
I really love this thread, and already it's motivating me to get out of bed and GET STUFF DONE! I've got a huge list of boring (not small) things I won't share - but with flights becoming an increasingly 'imminent' thing I need to get sorted before it's too late!
Thanks always, for the encouragement, inspiration and care you guys show. You're awesome. x0
