Monday 14th September - what small DFW things will you do today?

Bobarella

As the thread title suggests this thread is for tracking the small but important actions we take every day to keep on top of the pennies and reduce the debt.
When we start our debt free journey we focus on the big things. Cutting up the credit cards. Cancelling expensive memberships. But along the way it is just as important to focus on small things that are done each day but build up to help us on the way. Examples -taking cash to the supermarket, making a shopping list, buying YS food, walking instead of driving short journies.
Good luck with your small things today.

Morning All
A new week a new chance to look at priorities and goals for the rest of the month.
Our day started just before 6. Going to bed early means we are finding the early starts easier. Have been up, done breakfast, & unpacked the dishwasher/put away the pots from the draining rack. I like the kitchen clear for when I get home at night.
OH is taking pasta leftovers from yesterday (we had stuffed YS peppers with pan fried onions & chorizo)
Son's lunchbox is ready to go, plus all his many and various items for school packed (recorder, home work folder, spelling folder, a cereal box for an art project!)
Have just sent a couple of emails whilst I'm up and about. The guttering at our flat needs some work but there were two suggested levels of work and OH only finally got round there to view it yesterday. His view is we can manage with the basic level of maintainance so that's the plan for the end of the month to split the cost with the other owners. So that's good news for the emergency fund. I'd rather try and take the money from monthly cash flow.
Waiting on First Utility or the other name their initials suggest (end with useless) to load up our bill. It gets later every month although the date they want paying is always the same. I can then reduce the bill now the arrears are clear.
Have a couple of small payments coming in this week so hoping to clear the £60 or so off my figure to pay below.
Have a good day/week everyone.

Morning Bob, Moonbeam and everyone else that follows. It was dark when I woke up this morning, which always makes it a bit more difficult to get up and start the day.
Pleased to see that the flat doesn't need as much work as you thought Bob.
Start of another busy week for me at work - barely time to turn around, but always time for a little listcheck banking and PAD if I can (things are looking tight)
NSD
meals from the batch cook
mark a set of books
don't get stressed at work
go to my friend's exercise class for free
15 mins housework and declutter
I think that's it. Have a good day everyone. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Morning everyone!
I've not been around for a while as we've been on holiday in the SW with our caravan. We didn't spend a lot on the holiday - the biggest chunk went on the site fees. I took some basics from home, and did a supermarket shop when we arrived, and we took our food and drink out with us every day. I didn't feel much like eating anyway, as I went down with a cold on day one. My OH has got it now but at least we are back home so he is suffering in comfort!
I've just been catching up with you all, but only got to last Tuesday so far!
As it's a wet day here, I'm using my free bus pass to go into our nearest big town (22 miles away) as I need a few things that I can't get locally. I have a few vouchers to use, so hopefully I won't spend too much though! The bus will bring me home early afternoon, so I'll need to take a snack & drink to keep me going till then.
I found a lot of blackberries when out walking the dog yesterday, & some windfall apples. I used the apples to make a scrummy apple strudel, using a pack of frozen puff pastry that was lurking in the depths of the freezer.
I've just realised that, as from October 5th, shops in England will be charging for carrier bags so I need to accumulate as many as possible before then. I usually refuse a bag, but there are times when you do need one.
I've done a couple of money saving things this morning - the stale bread has been cut into cubes & frozen, ready to make croutons next time I make soup, and I've washed out the inner lining of a cereal box which I'll use for packing sandwiches.
Well, better go else I'll be missing that bus!

Morning all, horrible, heavy rain here, so no chance to get the pile of washing accrued over the weekend dry outside
Might just leave it for today, as I don't want it festooned around the house.
List for today:
Check banks Done
Clean up house after grandchildren stayed over the weekend. Done some of it, will finish tomorrow
Visit sales unit to see if stock needs topping up / tidying after the weekend. Done, several spaces where things had sold, so all good
Rearrange freezers to see if I can fit more in them  Done, but still not enough space
Roast another batch of tomatoes, as I still have a basketful in the conservatory. We have had a huge amount from 6 plants in pots. I wish I had had the forethought to weigh them! Not done this yet, but did use a few handfuls in the dish I made for supper
Pick more tomatoes if there is a break in the rain No break long enough unfortunately (they don't keep if picked wet)
Pick cucumbers and courgettes Rained off
Pick carrots for dinnerUsed up some veg in the fridge instead
HM meals from stores - I can't think of anything I need to buy today, so also aiming for a NSD(though just as well after spending quite a lot on activities over the weekend ) Done, and nothing spent :T
Any surveys that are available Done a few for onepoll. Just £1.20 off potential payout now :T
Hope everyone has a good day. Sorry to hear about the issues yesterday DNMS
Oh dear, just looked back at this and there are too many blue and purple smilies. So let's put that right::):):):):):):):):):):):)

Hello all, nothing much to report from me, but just wanted to check in. Have arranged for someone to do the bathroom, so it'll be a frugal next few months to ensure that we can get the quality we want and then get the carpets done - all before Christmas. It's a very different situation from this time last year. Within a year, I've paid off my debt of around £3700, and also saved roughly the same amount. And we've had a big and a little holiday. I was just sleepwalking my way through my finances before which makes me so mad at myself!
So yep, just quietly plodding, making sensible decisions, and chasing up what's owed to me this week. On that note, I think I'll call HMRC now. :mad:0 -
Good morning everyone, It’s a rather damp here today which do not help with the get u[p and go esp when I have woken with a head cold.
