    Morning all!

    Haven't caught up on the weekend's post yet, so hope you're all ok.

    I finished my crochet last night! Now need to give it to my mum so that she can do the fastening off etc as don't trust myself to do it! My OH said I should be proud of myself so it must be ok!

    This morning we had a power cut so at least it saved energy for an hour or so! So no TV on, couldn't straighten my hair, OH washed in cold water(!). Luckily its back on now so food wont spoil, and I'd just made my morning cuppa before it went off - OH was not so lucky! :rotfl:

    Today I have/will:-
    * Check banks
    * Take mash out of freezer for dinner
    * Check FPL
    * Upload receipts to ClickSnap
    * Read weekend's thread
    * Write shopping list
    * Go shopping on lunch break
    * Earn more on OnePoll
    * Go for a run
    * Dinner from stores

    Hmmm - Short list today but it's all I can think of! Hope you all have a good day!

    No money saving AT ALL so far, as decided to treat ourselves to breakfast in Waitrose Cafe as we shan't see each other for the rest of this week......Oh, hang on, we did get free coffees with that on our loyalty cards. Bought a few bits to take to Dad when we visit him in hospital, packed an extra bag of things to do including some letters to write......all recycled envelopes & stamps I already had, so I suppose that's another small thing. Ah....& I entered a competition too, so that's another one. There's more here than I thought! Yes, & I did 2 surveys as well, then had to catch up on a little bit of council business before I go away. If the rain stops before I go, I will pop out & feed the courgettes as they are still producing despite the drop in temperatures. Oh.....& postman brought mr f some Waitrose vouchers which look very useable.
    So a few things, not much, but when I get back, I am aiming for some serious money saving efforts & am also going to think about the possibility of a PAD of some sorts into the Car Fund.
    Have a good week all,
    f xx

  • Afternoon all :hello:

    I just love reading everyone's lists, they do inspire you to do other small things so keep 'em coming, no matter how small you think it is :T

    DNMS - I feel you green tomato pain - I bought DD1 her own tomato plant this year - well for 79p so far we've had about a dozen tomatoes off it and there are about another 20 or so on it (and loads more flowers) but alas like you - they are all green and we have only managed to get 1 red. :o DH read somewhere that putting them with bananas helps, but so far no joy - any greenfingered bunnies offer advice?

    Anyway, list for today:
    DH did small shop at Ald! from list
    DH Made pea and ham soup (well was actually green bean and cheap lardon but you get the gist :rotfl:) tasted yummy as had for lunch :D
    Tea from meal plan in SC
    Check banking - PAD to CC
    Updated all my spreadsheets for next FY (starts October) yesterday - plus my present sheet for 2016 - never too early to start ;)
    WFH, so we'll all go swimming tonight at local LS - me and OH on membership 2 LO for free, will shower there (all of us)
    Run for free first thing before house was awake
    keep eye for Amaz0n voucher from £co, will load when it comes through
    Chase BG as they didn't turn up for their appointment today :mad:
    See if we can leave BG and still keep their boiler cover until year is up. Really like them and service (and like the technology that means i don;t have to talk to anyone!) is good but did some comparisons and the unit rate is :eek: compared to some others (even those supplied by BG)
    Won't be going with FU based on DNMS and Bob's experience though :D
    Check 1poll

    Think that's all - have a lovely day everyone :)

    Evening DFW-ers, :wave:

    Thanks for the starter Bob.

    It's been like a three-ring circus at Dowd Towers today: mainly involving me being on the phone all day to call centres, mostly on hold listening to Vivaldi. I'm tired out and now trying to evaluate if anything positive has come out of the whole experience:

    Nillionaire Month Four:

    * Limited caffeinated drinks to three today.

    * Turned alarm clock off at the wall til tonight.

    * Checked broadband allowance. It's going to be tight.

    * Put leaflet advertising oven cleaning' only' £20 straight in the recycling.

    * Called pretty much every government department in our quest to get the right amount of state benefits paid to us. Did not lose my temper; almost lost my sanity though. :eek:

    * Took OH to dentist for impressions. No cost. On the NHS.

    * PayPal finally completed a refund. Put the flags out.

    * Energy company completed a refund, but haven't paid the compensation yet.

    * eBay refunded our seller fees but I then had to request they be put back in our account. This could take 30 days. Growl....

    * Did the final piece of paperwork to allow me to start back at my old job. Just need a start date now. However, not counting my chickens until they hatch. The way my luck's going it'll probably all fall through.

    * Calculated that we have only allow £40 for our food budget this coming month. Luckily we have quite a lot in the pantry. Gonna need to be creative.

    * OH called housing association about dripping kitchen tap. Can't be bothered to fix it ourselves. Too busy.

    * Free pizza coupon in the post.

    Have a good evening all.

    I've just realised that, as from October 5th, shops in England will be charging for carrier bags so I need to accumulate as many as possible before then. I usually refuse a bag, but there are times when you do need one.

    We've had this in Scotland for a year. I save those sacks the dodgy charity collectors put through your door and we have a few Bags for Life. The odd flimsy carrier bag will blow along our street and get stuck in our hedge, at which point I womble it, wash it, dry it and added to our collection. :D
