Yes, the technically advanced members of MSE are able to defeat all the 'apparent' data gathering technology but what about Joe Public who is taken in by the 'free upgrade' to his/her old lagging system?
Both the technically advanced members, and Joe Public, can read the questions they are asked at installation, and answer 'no'. They're on by default, and they should be off, certainly.
If you don't like the data gathering, I hope you don't have iOS, Android, GMail, Yahoo etc etc...

Don't forget about MS also using your bandwidth to deliver updates to other people on the internet at your expense, which is turned on by default.

Oh PS, none of the others ran a Scroogled campaign when they are doing exactly the same.

Predictably, it didn't take long for that comment to surface.

Virtually every organisation gathers your data but this thread is about Windows 10 and how some people are not as technically aware as others and may be 'giving away' more than they realise.

Seated at a lunch counter next to the President, the little boy looked up at him and said, "MY DAD SAYS YOU ARE SPYING ON US!"

Obama answered, "HE'S NOT YOUR DAD!"
  • It good for business. There's millions of old laptops and netbooks out there that are so over-whelmed by downloading huge unnecessary updates, particularly when you first switch them on and they are checking for virus updates, adobe updates and half a dozen other things, and now a huge whoopping 6GB download it never really completes if you only switch your device on a few times a week, and the users think that their devices are out of date and have to replace them.

When their new devices arrive with Windows 10 installed already, everything behaves as it should, and they feel justified in the expense and the upgrade, and Microsoft's mind trick is complete... for now... until they want you to upgrade again... hahahahah hahahaaaaa!!! hahahhahaha *** inane laughter ***
