Microsoft downloading windows 10 even if you do not want it.

I read this morning that users of windows 7 and 8 have found that windows 10 is downloading files ready to install evn if you do not want it.

Caused some users to go over their download limits.

Anyone experienced this?

    Talk about late news!
Wasn't this being discussed in the W10 thread over 2 months ago?

Note quite the same, a couple of months ago MS was only pushing out notifications for W10 d/l but things have changed where if you have updates set to automatic then the full install is downloaded to a hidden directory (typically around 6GB). Quite naughty really.

I would also say that "download allowances" are very old fashioned :D

Unlimited can be so cheap now why inflict a cap on your self?

TT offer it for £7.50 a month!

    Really?

I think you will find that's only if you have one of those 'old fashioned' land line type thingys

If you don't find joy in the snow,
remember you'll have less joy in your life

...but still have the same amount of snow!

BT love trying to entice people with cheap offers where the small print has a monthly cap.

In a addition to this a lot of people still have rubbish BB connections (1mb or less) and a 6GB d/l is going to make that run like molasses especially if there is more than one PC in the house.

Even mid July there was discussion about the download

I understand that, even if we do not want to upgrade - we will ALL be forced to download almost 4Gb of data files - how can MS even get away with this ?

    News from 28th July http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2015/07/28/windows-10-automatic-download/

so I'll stick with the late news/not news comment.

Getting way O/T, but many folks still like a landline, especially if they a) don't have a mobile or b) have terrible/no mobile reception

    :)
