PAYG never runs out

Options
In October last year i bought a cheap phone and 3 PAYG top up card of £10 from website.

Around this time washing machine broke called national rate number on hold for a long time, cut off, then i got a message credit had run out. No surprise.

Then i sent a txt and it worked. 11 months later texting, phoning, internet, picture messages (heavy use) and its still working.

Now, I've never been PAYG before, is it possible I'm getting myself in some sort of debt? They have my address, what if they send me a big bill? Sorry if this is a stupid question

  • Bizarre. If it's PAYG you can't be charged - they wouldn't even have your basic details.

Make the most of it and if there are any more like that let me know!

There must be a way to check your current balance. A quick Google suggests dialling 444 might do the trick.

As you bought it on line, then presumably you had to use a payment method (card?)
You don't think you ticked an auto-topup did you???
  • Sounds like auto top up to me.

Auto top up? I've never even heard of that, I'll check my statements now! I vaguely remember the SIM being free, I think I just put my address in but I'll have to check

    444 - it says balance is £7.12

I've not quite understood how the companies advertise PAYG with a set monthly payment?
  • I've had a couple of Three data payg SIMs that after many months of being out of use and no credit will briefly work when you try them again, pretty soon you get a message to say it needs a top up.
Just a thought - with Three you can have PAYG and PAGY with a monthly add on - so your original Add on would expire after 30 days leaving any remaining credit there as regular PAYG credit that doesn't expire.
