  • Finally, a NSD today! :jI was super-organised yesterday and prepared a quorn veggie casserole last night in the SC to switch on today, for me and DS. It was lush! I'm the carnivore of the family but I do try and do meals that can either be divided and meat or quorn added as required, or have something veggie and tasty. I used up fridge odds and ends (wow that celery was wilty! but great in the casserole) and some tinned butter beans that I don't even remember buying! I added dumplings and cooked some broccoli to go with it and it got the big thumbs up from DS too! There's enough left for him to reheat when he gets home late tomorrow night, so that's another meal taken care of. :) (I'll be lazy and have fish fingers while he's out). I've planned and shopped for Thursday's chicken/quorn curry already, and there's a quorn cottage pie in the freezer for Friday, from when I doubled up on last week's. Quite chuffed with all that.

£3.73 yesterday in Mozza's. Despite what I said last time about wasting milk, I bought a 4 pinter - but I did make custard and hot chocolate so quite a bit has gone already. Just a few basic top ups. Also got a wodge of YS haslet, so OH has something he likes for lunchypops today.

6 NSDs for the month so far - that's no groceries or social spends

    July grocery challenge START: £150.
    total SPENT £127.53, REMAINING £22.37.
  • Just remembered that I've got a portion of leftover beef stew in the fridge, so I'll be having that tonight instead of the fish fingers. :jThey will keep for next Wednesday when it's just me for dinner again (I'm always lazy when I don't have DS or m'chap to cook for as well). Streeeeetcching the budget... another NSD today! :T

I hate the packed shops at any time of year! :rotfl:I never really enjoyed supermarket shopping at all, but since I've signed up for the GC and a not buying clothes for 12 months challenge, it's become a real dislike of any shopping! A colleague convinced me to try Ocado for deliveries and I'm a real convert. I still nip into A1di and occasionally Mr T for top-ups, but the big shop is brought straight into my kitchen once a month by a very polite driver. I've had the Smart Pass free delivery for about six months, but I've decided that I'm going to take up the special offer 12 months for 3.99 once that's expired. It'll be worth it for the massive reduction in my stress levels.

Shampoo and a couple of bits in Mr T today. I used a £7 off £50 voucher but it was against Christmas gifts which is of course a different budget.

I don't want to speak too soon but I am really pleased with my total of £232.73/£400 this month so far.:D I am on hols next week (but not DH or DS) so will be using up the cupboards and freezer as best I can and stocking the freezer with HM ready meals for DH as I am away with work the following week. I usually buy him a load of SW meals for when I am away but if I can stock the freezer it will save me a fortune.

I am also going to meal plan and try and save as much as I can of the food budget as we are planning to move and need every penny.
