In that case, they should set the limit at only 1kg then. Is there any objective justification for these low weight limits?
As I said above, it's hard to see consistent rationale across the various carriers' allowances, so I could only speculate about those who set it at 5kg. If I had to guess, I'd say they chose that because it's the lowest they judged they could get away with, 1kg would be too juicy a target for the tabloids.0 -
Friend of a friend is a pilot - freight now but used to do 'people' and he concurs!I haven't flown with Thomas Cook or Thomsonfly, but one would assume the rationale is to generate ancillary revenue from checked bag charges.
and also to encourage you to pay for a suitcase and their most reasonable rates.They are not competing with Ryanair/easyJet/BA quite so directly, so perhaps don't need to be so generous.
