Try using wooden utensils for a week, you can pick up a set really cheaply in a supermarket or pound shop if you don't have any.

Are you on any medication? Could it be a sinus infection? I taste and smell sulphur and rubber if I have a sinus infection, with no other symptoms at all.

We find the fairy lemon dishwasher tabs leave a soapy taste on some things
  • Could it be to do with being pregnant?

I work in a bakery and was convinced someone was messing with the recipes until I found out I was pregnant. Still can't eat a lot of the stuff baked there.

I think I will try the wooden spoons/utensils, although not sure long term as I'm not a fan of these :o and would wood not hold a soap taste/smell just as much as any other material?

Not on any medication at all, maybe I just have very sensitive taste buds?

I think mines are Fairy dishwasher tabs too, but my MIL uses the same ones, and I don't taste soap at hers?

I've had this problem for quite a while and thankfully not been pregnant constantly for the last couple of years :rotfl:

In my previous house, I put it down to it being an older dishwasher/filters etc, and thought being in my brand new house it would disappear. I have a top spec Smeg dishwasher and I can still taste it :mad:

We have this occasionally in my house!! I think its some certain types of dishwasher tablets because the cheap Poundland or Aldi ones seem to be fine and the Fairy platinum ones left a washing up type of taste! Esp in drink glasses, Im OCD now and I wash them out about 3 times with water before I make a drink :rotfl:

I think I would try washing the dishes without any detergent or liquid. It might be a pain but if it works it works!

Get a good scrubber to take the worst of the muck off before going in the dishwasher.

I will give this a try too - OH is very 'rule focussed' - and the dishwasher has a sticker saying only to use Fairy tabs, so this might take a bit of getting around :rotfl::rotfl:

The thought of washing dishes - full stop - is enough to make me just put up with the soap taste :rotfl::rotfl:

I stopped using the Fairy dishwasher tablets as I thought they left a soapy taste on the dishes.
