MSE BIG SWITCH advice

I switched supplier for dual fuel starting 2 AUG using the MSE Cheap Energy Club. I had moved in the house in April so I didnt have (and still don't have) a clear understanding of my usage. It took me a while to bring myself to find the cheapest deal! The previous supplier was E-ON.

The Energy Club tells me now that I would save £41/year by switching to Eon with the special big switch tariff, plus the £15 worth of vouchers and the £30 cashback if switching via the energy club.

I am with Flow Energy, who have a decent tariff so I'm wondering if it's worth switching, considering I've only been one month with them. Below are the two tariffs. My tariff will end 1 APR 2016.

Gas: 2.989p/kWh (exactly the same as eon)
Standing charge: 14.312p/day. (Eon: 21.903p/day) a massive 7p/day difference

Electricity: 10.871p/kWh (eon: 10.111p/kWh)
Standing charge: 20.297p/day (eon: 16.422p/day)

I am in two minds on whether switching or not. I actually can't see the £41/year saving when the difference in tariffs is so small. The vouchers plus the cashback makes it more attractive.
Is it worth it? Any advice is welcomed.

On which of the 3 comparison assumptions is your £41 saving based. You really need to have the top left one, "what you're currently paying" selected which is the real saving against the current tariff and not using the assumption that you will default to standard at the end of fix.

I have selected the "what you are currently paying" as you mention, and I'm getting a £41/year savings. I haven't entered real usage so the savings are based on the ofgem recommended assumptions?

Just noticed.....
Interestingly, the savings comparing to "what you are paying now" and "what you'll pay after your fix ends" is the same. I guess this means that the std tariff is the same as what I am paying now?

If you are happy with the deal you got yourself last month, I wouldn't bother switching again so soon (unless you are just chasing possible cashback), especially if you currently have no real idea of your anticipated annual consumption in kWh.

I would suggest you set your CEC account to an appropriate value you need to save before they send you advice of cheaper deals to avoid continuing disturbance.

Presumably you are currently on the Flow Connect tariff that ends end of March next year.

Yes, Flow's variable tariff is currently the same price ... but of course that could change at any time.

Good point Molerat.

This should be the default setting when you've a fix expiring in the next 12 months (but not inside next 50 days).

I have set up CEC to advise me when I achieve a saving of at least £50/year. As I learnt about the Big Switch I did a comparison and they came up with a £41/year saving plus the other incentives. I am a bit wary that the eon and flow energy tariffs are so close that I may not in fact save or even pay more, plus eon has mixed reviews regarding customer service. Flow energy reviews are very good and I can second that so far. after writing this I'm inclined to stay put.....
