Arrrggghhh.....Stu ran over a nail on the way home from work today.....£116 later....:(

I'm Quidco-ing, bingo-ing, Pigsback-ing and survey-ing like mad, but he's spending it quicker than I can make it!!

I'm looking at it that if I HADN'T been making extra money, the flat tyre etc would have been a nightmare. As it is, it's just a bit of a pain.

Ryan's had his speech therapy assessment today, she was absolutely lovely and Ryan really took to her. When we walked in, he said 'Are you the lady we saw last time?' and when she said yes, he said 'oh, you've got a different hairstyle' :). She was really impressed and told him he was the only man she's ever met who notices things like that! :rotfl:

Obviously she can't make any sort of diagnosis, because that's not what she does, but when she had done all her assessing, she talked about various strategies that can help autistic children, so I think she is fairly convinced that he IS autistic.

Sympathise with the tyre thing - I got a big stone fly up at my windscreen today - the resultant chip is too big to repair so I need a new screen

Sounds positive re Ryan - at least you can start making headway soon xx

Oh no Hypno - will your insurance cover it? I think my insurance does, although I have to pay an excess (used to be £50 but I think it's £75 now!).

We just called in Tescos this afternoon for some nappies and something for dinner (as I forgot to defrost anything), and they had large cooked chickens reduced from £4 to £1.89. :T There was a LOT of meat on it too, enough for tomorrow lunch as well.

I know I should boil the bones or something, but:

    a) *shudder*

    and

    b) What am I supposed to do with the stock once I've boiled it? (I can't make soup as the only veg I have is brocolli, and I don't think hubby or Ryan would eat green chicken soup....lol)

Am I the world's least domesticated person? :o

You could make potato based soup? Have you got any? It's quite easy - just bash em up and stick them in a pan! :) Then you can store the stock for a little while in the fridge. Not sure if leeks are around but leek and potato soup is gorgeous with chicken stock :)

That does sound nice.....but I haven't any potatoes and am really trying not to go shopping until Sunday. Will it freeze? How long do I boil it for?

It does freeze - well, I've frozen it!!:)

I usually stick all the bones in a pan, along with those gross jellied bits. Then I bring to boil and simmer for about an hour, so make sure you put LOADS of water in so that you don't end up with about an inch of stock left! :) I then pour it into freezable container, and leave to cool. You can choose to skim the fat off now, but I prefer it with the fat and it's much tastier. Then freeze and add to soup when cooking. You can add herbs along with the bones and if you have any really dodgy veg that has turned and can't be eaten, add that. Oh, I usually add a little garlic (cloves just roughly chopped) and an onion if you have one. But nothing else is really necessary. It will all be sieved out anyway!

oh, and even with the fat left on, in a leek and potato soup, it's all quite low in calories anyway and is gorgeous with a hunk of bread :D
