Len, it's £76 a month I think (we purposely took it over a long period because we always intended to clear it early, so it was a low monthly payment. The interest rate is pretty good on it, but we will save quite a lot clearing it off now).

BB, exactly - I had a slight wobble when I went to click on 'sell', and then I pictured how I would feel paying off the loan and realised it would be worth feeling a little pang of regret at some point, in order to feel so relieved and happy now!
Oh brilliant, £76 is a lot of money. Have you made plans for it yet?

Ouch Annie, that sounds painful, poor you. How exciting about the laptop though!

El, yep, I finally did it! I would have done it last week but was so busy I forgot! :o It worked out for the best though, because they have increased quite a bit since then.

Yes, I'm going to set a standing order up for the same amount into the home improvements loan I think.

I'm going to start a new thread next week to motivate myself to clear that loan too. The sharesave in August would clear most of it, but that would leave us with nothing, and we could really do with a new bathroom! :o

I know that technically I AM unsecured debt free now, but I wont feel debt free until the home improvements loan has gone, so I'm going to hold off putting anything in the hall of fame until it's gone. If I start thinking of myself as debt free, I might start spending again! :rotfl:

Great to hear that you can clear the car loan Snags. Could the remainder go towards your new bathroom ? XX El
