Afternoon!
Well, some kind-of-sort-of-ish good news today, Stu has been officially made redundant.
He was off sick with depression due to being bullied at work, and raised a formal greivance a couple of weeks ago. He told them he could no longer face working there, and asked them to make him redundant with immediate effect (he was going to be made redundant in a few weeks anyway) and pay him in lieu of notice.
He has had a letter today to say they have investigated, and agree that his boss is in the wrong, and have agreed to his requests.
So he is now free to start looking for another job, and will receive his redundancy pay in the next 7-14 days. :T
Just the small matter of finding a job now......"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

Thanks
I can't wait for him to find a job, I'm sure it will help him fight off his depression. He hates being at home all the time, and I can't wait to have him out from under my feet for a few hours a day...:rotfl: :rotfl:"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
What a strange day - more sort-of-good news...
We had a phone call at 12.30pm from the department that Ryan has been referred to with his behavioural problems - we've been waiting ages for a referral - anyway, they said they had a cancellation today at 3pm.
So we've been there most of the afternoon. Ryan was referred to them with suspected adhd, but after the consultation today, and reading the referral letter, plus the report from his school, and listening to what we had to say, they feel that it is likely that Ryan has Asperger's Syndrome.
He will need a full autism assessment, which will take a couple of months to happen, but it is very in-depth (done over 3 sessions), and will give us/them a really clear idea of how Ryan sees the world, which will help massively when it comes to treating/supporting him.
They are also doing various other things to support us in the meantime, such as coming into school for a meeting with his teacher and educational psychologist, and referring us to a parent group.
While it's a bit scary to think he has Asperger's syndrome, I feel like we are finally getting somewhere, and it's a relief to be told that it's not just down to him being 'an only child' (my Mum's theory, pre-Natasha), or having 'bad parents' (my worst fear).
Oh, and we treated him to a pair of trainers on the way home - £6 from a shop that was closing down - wooo! (That was supposed to be my attempt at money-saving for the day...lol)."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
And some more money-saving.....we dug Ryan's old high chair out of the loft, and the straps had gone all yellowy-orange (disgusting!). Bleach wouldn't even shift it, so we were on the verge of buying a new one, when we spotted a safety harness that could also be used in a high chair to strap a baby in. So the old straps have been taken off, and now we have a perfectly good high chair, for the bargain price of £4!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Wow Mrs S ~ what a day!!
Well, they say it comes in three's so here's my twopenneth:- Great plan with the SS (thats sharesave, I'm not suggesting anything between you and southerscouser
) No more unsecured debt will be ace. Like IA we manage soley from TC's and JSA on a week to week basis so hollar if you want any tips
- Thats great news for Stu ~ it must seem like such a relief. I hope his manager has had the bolloxing <swear fliter loophole> he deserves and with a bit of luck his redundancy can go in the *pot*
- Now to the most important news of the day. I think its fantastic that you have a diagnosis, answers and a way forward with Ryan. I personally think its better to have news you would rather not have that no news at all (IYKWIM). As you say, things can progress now because you know *where* you are, Ryan can get the help he needs/deserves and you and Stu can learn about the condition, how it will affect you all and how you can all make the best of the situation. Welcome to Holland sweetie :A

HI Snaggles, good to hear you might be a step nearer with finding some explanation for your son. I've worked with people with Autism/Asperger's Syndrome so if he does get this diagnosis I can give you some excellent resources to look at.
I'm sure the specialist will do anyway but I'll do it anyway if/when it's confirmed.
Best wishes
