I'd be surprised if Ryan isn't diagnosed, they are so much better at picking this stuff up now. But diagnosed or not, he's the same little lad with the same difficulties.

Stu will learn one day that there is no point in trying to change a child with ASD. God, even day to day we have these things. I have really learnt to choose my battles, so, many days Amber will turn up to school in her halloween cat outfit, complete with black nose and whiskers which she's drawn on with a felt tip. So, I shove the uniform in the bag and stick a 'good luck in getting the uniform on' note

Stu will find his way too, it might take a bit longer for him to have a ryan lightbulb moment, but he'll get there.

The counselling could be a great thing and super timing. I hope stu gets a good therapist who will get him to open up and even realise for himself what's going on.

Aww, bless her. I'm sure Ryan would be much happier if he could go to school dressed as Doctor Who. I might suggest it at the next parent evening!

While we are on the subject, according to a silly test thing I did the other day, I am also 'on the spectrum' (not taking it seriously though, but it's probably right!), and I'm pretty convinced that Stu has undiagnosed ADHD or something vaguely ASD-ish (he even walks on his tiptoes when he doesn't have shoes on, which is quite an achievement for a 5ft11, 13 stone bloke). So it's no wonder we all have trouble understanding each other.
