Thanks all,
John Lewis is tempting for peace of mind. But I don't want to pay over the odds, so I'll probably look at Argos on ebay.
Still not clear on what machine I need. Need to do some more research...0 -
You can get an external USB DVD drive for around £20.
Costco is doing a Toshiba L10W-B-102 11.6" for £249.99: no DVD.
Folds into a tablet, if you like that kind of thing.
Argos is doing the Toshiba C50D-B-120 for £189.99: no DVD.
Keep an eye on the price. I got it for £169.99 a few weeks ago.
The price goes up and down like a yo-yo.0 -

Thanks for the replies. I don't doubt that building your own PC is best, but I do not have the ability or inclination to do so. I just want to buy something as easily as possible!NiftyDigits wrote: »Those are laptops
If your are not going to tinker, a laptop with an external DVD drive IS a basic PC.
I built a AMD A10 Kaveri tower, but I'm using the laptop all the time.
The previous laptop had terrible battery life, so I used it less, but the new one is just so convenient.0 -
