I might go and do a tour of cheap shops today. I have a list of things needed to buy from them. Spicy rice crackers from poundland (for me :D) I need new fleece blankets and cushioned mats for the pet beds, a selection of batteries , cheap fairy lights and I'm sure there's loads more on my list when I find it.

are you subscribed to the MSE poundland list - very usful to keep a running list.

someone found Dove handcreams this week although we are not supposed to be adding to our hand cream collections :).

the cabins are so well insulated its not really an issue.

the main noise you might find annoying is people who stroll back to their cabins at 3 in the morning and slam doors but that cant be helped. Or if you are outside a crew work station and you like to lie in bed until 11 in the morning then there will be a lot of banging and noises and talking.

is there a lot of price difference between an inside and an outside? if its say less than £100 or so then you might as well go for the outside.

Insides are good if you think your bar bill is going to be big :D

also if you are a poor traveller inside cabins might be better - you can just go and lie down and ignore the sea outside.

we have had guarantee cabins before on several ships with no issues whatsoever.

Thank you for that, it is only £100 difference pp so really would like to have the outside. As for poor traveller, I love being on the sea. Went on a trip to France once on what must have been the limit wind wise for ferries, absolutely loved it and got a massive breakfast :D OH never gets seasick either and we went on a short trip on the Bay of Biscay so that is a bit of a tester.

As for the bar bill, we are not planning on drinking a lot, we would be going for the cruise and not the food and drink :D

also depends on how long you actually spend in the cabin - if its just shower, dress, change for dinner and sleep so you are in there an hour a day apart from sleeping then insides are just as good - plenty of places around the ship for watching the sea.

there are some ports which have very uninspiring sail ins - one minute at sea, the next in the harbour eg Zeebrugge so you might as well have a lie in.
others have such beautiful sail ins then its worth getting up at the crack of dawn, put on as much warm clothing as possible and get up top - off the top of my head all of the Norway ports, La Coruna but especially Lisbon ...

You've got a good point there. We always consider hotel rooms as just a place to sleep, why should this be any different? And if it doesn't really make any difference to the noise level then it may be worth keeping the money to spend elsewhere :D

If we do do it then I will give all the information when we get back :)

Hmm subscribing to a list could alert me to things that my life would be perfectly fine without knowing about. There's absolutely no toiletries on my list, however cheap!
