Morning everyone. I hope you're all well. Lurking here and there every now and then - glad to see some old timers and some new faces.
Just thought I'd mention that there's going to be some serious uproar soon within the UK medical field.
The government have pushed a new contract through whereby all junior doctors are to get a pay cut of between 15-30%. When I say junior doctor, I mean any doctor other than consultants/GPs - which is a LOT of British doctors. Not only that, our working hours will also be increased. This is going to get serious - you've heard it here first.
There is a lot of uproar within our professional field. Consultants' contracts are due to change too within the next few weeks.
Let's just say, out of the 50 junior doctors within my hospital - 6 emigrated to Australia/New Zealand, 3 have quit the profession altogether and 1 decided to take her own life - all within the past year.
Be prepared for strike action - it's the only way to get the message across I'm afraid.
I'm disgusted at the whole thing to be honest. Sorry, had to let off a bit of steam.
Karlie that is so sad to hear ....out health service used to be the
best in the world ..and the government seemed determined to
revert to SHOW YOUR CREDIT CARD BEFORE BEING EVEN TREAT0 -

I think for those like me who generally shop at the weekend there's going to be fewer offers available and for those who don't have a smart phone, it will be problematic.
I think my £5 per week plan has gone well and trulymadly out the window:o
Just because i'm not having a severe knee jerk reaction doesn't mean i think it's wonderful
Sometimes you have to see how it plays out. Aside from the superb voucher offers or near freebies, i don't think much is bought because it's on the app. Most of my stuff is wombled. Just because it's not as good doesn't mean it's horrible and i'm going to chuck it.
I look at it as free money. If the 25p here and there gets anyone soo upset as it appears to have done to some then perhaps wombling more frequently will be less stressful and better financially.0 -

So some have decided to opt out and go elsewhere. That happens in all industries, even ones with exceptionally good working conditions/pay/benefits.
In my 'industry' I've personally known of 3 suicides in the past 8 years. You may be letting off steam, but I see your references as scaremongering !
Up roar perhaps because doctors/consultants are being asked to work weekends. It's about time the NHS became a 7 day week health service instead of a Mon-Fri one to suit time on the golf course. Modern life is 24/7 365 days a year, god forbid other professional bodies deciding they didn't want to work weekends. The country would grind to a halt.
Why should patients be at a greater risk of death at weekends or immediately thereafter. Why is primary care severly reduced at weekends.
The NHS generally provide outstanding care in the UK and is possibly one of the best health facilities in the world, but why should it rest on it's laurels. The changes may not be perfect, they may not suit all, some of them may not work as proposed, but the NHS needs change and modernisation and it's about time something was done.0 -

Just been having a play on the L'Occitane website - 5.25% cashback on TCB.
I had an email from them which said make any purchase and put Cute into the promo box and you get a very cute little gift set for £5 - 4 handcreams, nailfile and a case - I thought this would make a nice gift for a teenager - babysitter, your hairdresser, nieces etc
The cheapest I could find were things between the £3 and £5 mark so £8 in total and they also include wrapping and 2 sample sachets and you can collect from store.
So Cute Collection
