I'm not inclined to even argue the point with you because you are simply guessing at what the OP meant in the posts. With the lack of concrete evidence I am inclined to think OP is innocent until proven guilty. Remember, it isn't a crime to say that a black person is black!
Yep, it's not clear what the OP intended, which is why I never accused them of racism. I also agree that it's not a problem to state the colour of someone's skin when telling a story. Saying "He was black so I thought he'd hit me" would be racism - it was beginning to sound like the OP was saying something close to that, but again only the OP can clarify.0 -
Is this the Guardian or MSE. Lots of hand wringing going on.
Young black males are statistically more inclined to violence than young white males, more so if they are immigrants to this country and come from places where the morality is very different.
Shoot me down if you like but its the truth, so i can understand the OP,s reluctance to make an issue of it in light of what she has said on here.
Also, anyone who leaves a pram and goes to another shop, isnt what i would call a good father or a sensible person.0 -
I personally do not think it was acceptable for this person to leave the pram in the queue to 'hold the space' whilst conducting other business elsewhere. What if the pram had got to the front of the queue and was next? It could hardly carry out the transaction. Nor could a small child.
In my mind it's different to an old person using their shopping trolley to hold the place and sitting down - they remain present, and will step up to the counter when it is their turn. Equally if one adult partner or a teenage child queues while the other is elsewhere, that adult/teenager can carry out the required transaction.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

How would it have got to the front of the queue anyway lol?0 -
lol That thought made me chuckle!
It's an excellent point, though. What about if Pram Man really had got caught up at the till point for some reason, say he was there for 10-15 mins and meanwhile there's a widening gap forming between the pram and the remainder of the queue? Are people who have just entered the building with the purpose of using the Post Office counter, then supposed to see a pram and bunch up behind it, just in case it's been left there to mark somebody's place in the line? Because if so then we'll soon have everyone crowding behind a wire basket left on the floor, or an abandoned shopping trolley, just in case it belongs to somebody and it would be rude to step past it! My giddy aunt, I can just picture the chaos which would ensue and we would all be pelting one-another with pick'n'mix within minutes!0
