This thread is hilarious. Imagine if mumtoone saw someone steal from her handbag.
Police: "Can you describe the assailant?"
Mto1: "Yes, saw them perfectly"
P: "Male or female?"
Mto1 "Can't tell you, sexist."
p: "Were they young or old?"
Mto1: "Can't tell you, that's ageist"
P: "Can you describe their ethnicity?"
Mto1 "Racist b@$tard"
P: "Is there anything you can tell me?"
Mto1: "I've told you everything I can"0 -

No, at that point it would be perfectly plausible to mention race as it's a description of an event which needs investigation - the OP on the other hand had no need to mention race at all. Do I think it was "racism", nah probably not, but do I think it was necessary, absolutely not.
On face value the OP was in the right, once you vacate your place in the queue to perform another task then you've vacated your place in the queue period. There are situations where it's permissible to allow someone to rejoin in the same spot - but it's not a given that it should ever be OK. Just the other day a woman helped an elderly gent move some bags while his wife was in the queue - she went to rejoin the queue behind me until I said that she should go ahead of me. The fact she graciously went to rejoin the queue at the end was nice but ultimately she'd helped someone who needed it, so I was more than happy to let her rejoin ahead of me.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -
Had a similar thing in carphone warehouse a few days ago.
Went in and 3 people were dealing with customers.
Found the phone we wanted and waited to be served.
While waiting someone bumped into me as they bent down and I noticed she had a pram with her.
5 minutes later while being served the same woman comes back into the shop and starts to complain she was first.
She said she was in there first then went to another shop and when she cam back expected to be next in line.
Judging by her voice I'm guessing she was raised in an African country but I wont mention her colour as its irrelevant.0 -
I think the big problem here is that a person left a baby in a pram and went elsewhere, leaving the baby on its own.
Or maybe it was just an empty pram? It's not clear from the OP.0 -
Oh Pleeeeees, I'm married to a black Kenyan, oh dear maybe I shouldn't have mentioned her skin colour because it might upset the faint hearted folks on here, so I won't I'll just say she was born in Kenya. Please, oh please don't be so childish. It's only the whites who make such a big fuss about such matters not the blacks. I've heard my wife say about other Africans, 'Oh she's very back', or suchlike. Take your politically correct misconceptions and stick them where the sun don't shine and concentrate on the matter at hand.
The man cheated in the queing system but then there's no such thing any more especially at bus stops. Just put it down to one of life's experiences.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

FWIW OP I didnt see anything wrong in your description of the ignorant guy who saved his place in a queue by abandoning a baby.0

No one seems to be trolling, here.
It's just an honest difference of opinion.
I don't even think anyone is being racist.
The reason, I think, that many are defending the OP's mention of the person's colour is that the point of the objection seems invalid and thus the objection itself excessive.
The problem with such objections is that they inure people to all objections. They make it easier for the real (race/age/sex)ist to throw up their hands and say: "Oh, the PC mob are at it again".
It's usually possible to tell if someone's mention of colour is intended to promote a racist viewpoint because they make it the main feature of their complaint - in this case "... some black guy pushed in ...", rather than relegate it a supplementary detail. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
So,young father joins queue at post office counter realises he;s got time to use shop. Rejoins queue position marked by child in pram, you are behind him not pushed in front of pram which is rude. He is in the right, similarly to elderly lady who marked place in queue with shopping trolley but took advantage of seat to rest her legs. What is your problem?0
