Always worth checking the quality of any replacement windscreens. I know they all have a minor level of distortion due to them being curved however this varies wildly. They may say OEM parts, but that means nothing. The variation in OEM parts is huge.0

My opinion on Autoglass is from a personal experience. I don't need to listen to hype. I tried to use them and they came across clumsy and incompetent.0

The local Autoglass fitter to me is very good and professional and i used them a few times a couple of years ago. I also had a new windscreen from them and i was very happy with it.
I then changed insurance companies and i would have lost my no claims on a windscreen replacement. I thought it would just be easier to pay for it myself. I rang Autoglass and they quoted a price of over £600! and then tried to persuade me to go through insurance. I then rang up National Windscreens and they quoted me a price of £140. My latest insurance company's preferred fitters are also National Windscreen's.
If Autoglass are charging that kind of money i'm surprised any insurance companies want to work with them.
And before anyone asks yes i have had 3 cracked windscreens in the last 3 years!0 -
@glassman : Hmm. Methinks you protest too much and are DEFINITELY connected in some way to AUtoglass ........
"Industry leader without question" -really? In YOUR opinion of course! Companies are sometimes victims of their own success - early hard work and boom times can all to often be undone by arrogance, greed, haphazard and inefficient "service" and a host of other negative things - Autoglass quite likely fall into this model. No one doubts they may have some decent employees, but unfortunately they do not "make" the company -
The saying goes "the fish rots from the head" - poorly performing and useless employees are clearly not being managed correctly.
My experience is by no means the exception. LV are looking to change glass suppliers due to the huge volume (increasing) of complaints about Autoglass, and I am sure other insurers will follow.
Inevitably, companies are judged by their reaction when things go wrong and how they manage incidents. Autoglass are not clearly not doing too well on that score judging by the many, many complaints and dodgy practices. All I wanted was areplacement windscreen, not a pack of twits spouting drivel and lies.0 -

You thinks wrong. I am not connected to Autoglass.NeverEnough wrote: »"Industry leader without question" -really? In YOUR opinion of course!
Research it. There are plenty of facts which will convince even the most dimmest of wits.
It's not Auto Windscreens and since their acquisition of AA Auto Windshields, it's definitely not them either. This leaves National Windscreens: a multi-faceted group divided into regional businesses each with their own 'trading as' nom de guerre. You can't count a supplier network (Nationwide Windscreen Services) as they're merely a well, network, or a cluster of independent traders subbing work from an aggregator/supplier. If you have any facts to support a claim that one of the aforementioned companies is the industry leader (and I use the term to describe not only in dominance but in research and innovation too) I'd be very interested to see them.NeverEnough wrote: »Companies are sometimes victims of their own success
Ah, so you do concur.NeverEnough wrote: »- early hard work and boom times can all to often be undone by arrogance, greed, haphazard and inefficient "service" and a host of other negative things
You've deduced this from ONE experience? Astounding, as much as it is suspiciously intriguing to note.NeverEnough wrote: »The saying goes "the fish rots from the head" - poorly performing and useless employees are clearly not being managed correctly.
Hmmmm. You have surmised this from one failure at branch level? I hope Sir Alan Sugar is reading this thread; that's some skill you have there.NeverEnough wrote: »My experience is by no means the exception. Fascinating claim. A CSA intimated this, or are you connected at board level with LV? Are you a bond holder? Mates with the CEO, perhaps?NeverEnough wrote: »Inevitably, companies are judged by their reaction when things go wrong and how they manage incidents. You weren't chained to Autoglass. There are plenty of alternatives. Why hang around? Or was publishing your negative experience really the aim here?NeverEnough wrote: »All I wanted was areplacement windscreen, not a pack of twits spouting drivel and lies.
Then go somewhere else! It's quite easy really. Why endure it? Why the long post? It's not like you're looking for any advice is it; you haven't asked for any. Compensation? Nope. You haven't suffered a loss, so no Brucie there either.
I pointed out that you were being very harsh and scornful for making the 'the sooner they go bust the better' comment. But it seems you are out to damage them, regardless.0 -

Aaaand ignore Glassman.
Agreed. Not sure why he is trolling the thread talking rubbish defending Autoglass as vigorously as if his life depended on it :rotfl:
As for the personal attacks on me, well, they just show him up as a troll or someone very connected to Autoglass........0 -

Responding directly to your comments is not trolling. Amuse yourself with that one. You're still clinging onto the idea that I *might* be linked to Autoglass when I made it very clear that I'm not.
You still haven't responded which suggests you have an agenda.0 -

Resorting to personal attacks only makes you look even dimmer

Actually after my awful experience with them, I researched further and found that others had experienced appalling problems with this bunch of incompetents. So no, it was not ONE experience but that plus the accounts of many others.Fascinating claim. A CSA intimated this, or are you connected at board level with LV? Are you a bond holder? Mates with the CEO, perhaps
High levels complaints team at the insurers actually. Nope, no connection with the insurer unlike YOUR obvious connection with Autoglass! You weren't chained to Autoglass. There are plenty of alternatives. Why hang around? Or was publishing your negative experience really the aim here?
I was unfortunately stuck with the shower called Autoglass unless I was prepared to waste money and pay for my own windscreen despite having insurance cover -thats not the point of insurance, really, but something I will definitely take into account at renewal time. And how was I to know they would be a pack of !!!!!!? Only after they had the opportunity to prove it by their incompetence and lies! Then go somewhere else! It's quite easy really. Why endure it? Why the long post? It's not like you're looking for any advice is it; you haven't asked for any. Compensation? Nope. You haven't suffered a loss, so no Brucie there either.
I will post what I like when I like, without having to obtain your permission!
And actually, on this occasion there was no choice except to use Autoglass unless I happened to want to pay a lot more as the insurance policy will not pay another company more than £100.
And there was indeed a loss - the wasting of time and energy and resources in waiting for a pack of plonkers who couldn't even record the correct vehicle reg. not to mention the crooked fitter who tried to force my partner to sign for something he would not provide for her to read before signing!I pointed out that you were being very harsh and scornful for making the 'the sooner they go bust the better' comment. But it seems you are out to damage them, regardless.
Actually, its a public forum so I don't need your permission to post or voice an opinion.0 -
Why do you continue to link me to Autoglass?
Who told you there were 'high levels' of complaints? LV? And are you saying that you were also told that LV were looking to change their repairer in the same conversation?0
