Vodafone not able to provide copy of contract?

Hi folks,
heres my problem, my nokia lumia broke and is under 24 month warranty with microsoft, i put in the imei number and it says its not under warranty unless i can prove otherwise, so i phoned vodafone and asked for a copy of my contract, i got the phone and contract from phones4u, who obviously went bust.
I asked surely they would have a copy, otherwise how do they even know i exist etc, i was given the run around, heres what happened,
1 - i was told on phone they would email me a copy of contract and would take 48 hours, never arrived.
2- i phoned back, girl said they cant email copies of contracts and to go into any vodafone shop and they could print me copy right there,
3- went into shop, said they cant do that, and lumias only have a 18month warranty ( liar) and i was to phone back or go to a microsoft shop
4 - phoned back voda and was given an email address to ask for copy
5- emailed, and they said to contact phones4u
6- i explained phones4u's financial troubles in emails
7- never heard anything for a few day so i kept chasing up by email
8- a few weeks later i get a 'proof of usage' from vodafone, still no contract.

So today i have phoned and again asked for copy of contract, said it doesnt exist or 'might be in system somewhere' , i asked to cancel my phone from today, immediatly, i was told, "you cant until november as you signed a 24month contract and must also pay a fee and give 30 days notice" i asked " thank you, can you provide me a copy of this contract" was again told no they dont have etc.
Do i have any rights for immediate cancellation without paying the remainder of my contract?
thanks in advance,
Ian.

The fact that you have been using the service for nearly 2 years shows you have a contract. If you disputed the fact you had a contract, then you would have done so 2 years ago.

All your details will be on their system, possibly in the same way that contracts you take out online are logged.

Wouldn't the IMEI be on the paperwork that p4u gave you when you took the contract out? That should also have the date on it and prove you're still within the 24 months...

Your proof of purchase and a copy of the contract would have been given to you by P4U when you signed up. You can use either of these to prove the age of the phone to Microsoft/Nokia.
