Wednesday 9th September - What small DFW things will you do today?

Posts: 7,867 Forumite

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!
So be proud of those small steps, they really important!:money:
Morning :wave: happy hump day everyone
(not that it makes much difference to me! :rotfl:)
CCL I really felt for you when I read your update yesterday
I hope today is clamer for you and you get a chance to do some marking & lesson planning x
So today I have LOADS to do!
* interview this morning :eek: just about to have a bath & do my hair. Then will run through my presentation & interview prep...
* take load of washing to ex-mil's
* pick up another load at oh's parents

* check banking
* read martin's email
* not a NSD as need to get dgd nappies, so will get a few other bits so I can have NSDs over the next few days

* write a complaint to First Utility
* job search
Try to have some downtime as well! Ok better get on x

Afternoon DFW-ers,
Good luck DNM.
Bob: I love the old sitcoms. I've got quite a few series of them they pass the long, late afternoons when, like this week, I'm having a break from exercise.
Chocolate: Hope the ring turns up. A piece of my jewellery fell on the floor yesterday but luckily I heard it land.
Have managed to accomplish quite a lot today and now I'm very tired.
Nillionaire Month Four:
* Free Physio from OH.
* Checked Finances. Still waiting on energy company refund and outgoing PayPal payment.
* Signed on at the very lovely Palais de Jobcentre. At least that'll result in a proper payment for us both on Monday and, to be fair, the advisor is a reasonable sort of chap.
* Took a letter into the Council by hand complaining about incorrect calculation of Housing Benefit. They say we should be getting the same amount after an income drop as before the income drop. They're doing us out of £35 a week by only agreeing to pay 48% of our rent because they've got it in their head that we're still getting Tax Credits and we're not. And they've already had all this in writing.
* Limit caffeinated drinks to three coffees today.
* Turned alarm clock off at the wall til tonight.
* Did job-seeking tasks. After a phone conversation I'm hoping things will soon be going in my favour.
* Popped into the library to deal with an urgent email without using my mobile broadband allowance. Looked for a book I wanted but they didn't have it.
* Washing out on line.
* The local church heard of our financial hiccups and have given us a food parcel: four carrier bags full! Very kind of them, there must be £20 of food in there. Though we're going to be eating some strange combinations of food this week. And we're something-other-than-Christian too. We'll volunteer to mow their lawn or something in return. Really unexpected. Maybe it was 'karma' paying me back for helping a lost tourist get back to his cruise ship in town this morning...
Have a good day all.
Offer:
* Got an email saying "If you’ve got a parcel weighing up to 20kg you can get it delivered the next day from just £4.99 + vat with DPD's Pickup service. We have managed to negotiate an exclusive price for Parcel2Go customers and this is now the cheapest in the UK for parcels weighing between 2kg and 20kg. For convenience, you can drop it off at any one of DPD’s 2,250 drop-off points. DPD will collect it from there and deliver it within the UK the next day."Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Afternoon all!
I have a question for my freezer-friendly-frugal friends! I made some mash a while ago and froze it. Defrosted it yesterday to put on top of a cottage pie for dinner tonight. It has gone all watery and a bit of a funny looking texture/consistency. Of course, I used it anyway and will hope it's edible later, but is there anything I did wrong? Just made it as usual and froze it.
DNMS - I hope your interview went well.
Anyway onto today:-
* Check banks
* Take lunch to work
* Take gym clothes to work so can go straight to circuits after work to save rushing and petrol (started later so I could finish later as tonights session is near work)
* Not have extra cuppa before work
* Check Mr A receipt which I wombled on my walk this morning - not a winner!
* Go for a walk at lunch
* Fill water bottle up at work
* Earn more on OnePoll
* Check FPL
* Go to circuits
* Dinner from stores
* More crochet! So close to getting finished and I've lost motivation!
That's everything I can think of for now. Hope you all have a good day.Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)0
