We have a National Parking Control case which is due to be considered by POPLA very shortly.

One of our principal appeal points was based upon their Notice to Keeper being spectacularly non-compliant with POFA 2012. However, they have been quite dogged and actually went to the trouble of submitting quite a thick evidence pack to POPLA – even though their claim is doomed to fail.

Hot Bring, if you fancy jousting with National Parking Control, they have a self-ticketing operation in your neck of the woods - at the Queens Hotel, King’s Road, Brighton.

However, beware of the warning on the signs (if you can strain your eyes to read them) that:

THE VEHICLES [sic] REGISTERED KEEPERS [sic] DETAILS MAY BE REQUESTED FROM THE DVLA AND A PARKING CHARGE OF £100 ISSUED TO THE DRIVER. IF THE CHARGE REMAINS UNPAID, THIS CHARGE WILL INCREASE TO A MAXIMUM OF £385.

Erm, where is the car park at the Queen's Hotel?

  • Our driver was ticketed for parking in the bays under the canopy outside the hotel entrance.

    Isn't that the public highway??

It's certainly accessible to the public. I can't imagine you can actually park there, maybe dropping off/picking up at best?

My girlfriend works around the corner, I'll have a closer look next time I'm down there.

There's a little triangle of what looks like road outside the main entrance - that, unbelievably, is the Queens Hotel car park. That said the Queens Hotel has been run down for over two decades now so I'm surprised anyone risks staying there let alone parking outside.

You'll need to take a very close look; according to the pictures in NPC's evidence pack, the sign is fixed to one of the pillars beneath the entrance canopy and must be at least 10 feet above the ground.

Just checked on the website. The God daddy is still ripping off the great unwashed, paying almost £4.00 a gramme less than some other places, that is c@ £120 an ounce. Patently therefore their adds are liying.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
